Don't know, but it looks like this could actually be a 3 vs. 5 series thing. It's free even on the base 5 series car, whereas it is extra for all the 3 series cars that have been released so far in this cycle. However, I am thinking if they end up going up in the base price significantly, it will look silly to ask for extra change for metallic paint on a car that costs ~$60k. Then again, they make us buy navigation for MDrive/M button...

I think you still pay Destination fees with PCD. I know for sure that you do with ED, so I have to believe you do with PCD too. Not that that should deter you from doing either. I fully plan to do both when I order mine!

Ah, ok. Yeah, I bet that's it then - a 3 vs. 5 thing.

Well, that, and they still charged for Metallic paint on the ~$60k E46 M3 vert...

If these prices are close to accurate, then I am looking at roughly $10,000 in options, not including DSG or SMG which likely will be another $1200 or more. If base price is close to $60k, then I am not sure I can justify it as much as I like the car having driven it. Time will tell.

If this option list is final, it is definitely extra, because only Non-Metallic is denoted "STD". It is included in the base (as well as leather) in South Africa, but our price should be considerably less than theirs.

It's available for Yaris in Germany, don't know about U.S.

Trying not to talk about how poor it is to want CA as distinctive feature from an Yaris owner, but sorry, it's not even distinctive...

Thanks for the update. This is going to be one hell of an expensive car. I can only wish base price starts around 52k

Base MSRP will be below $60k.

I don't know how many times you can say it. I do know that you are not responsible for deciding the price on behalf of BMWNA. So unless yu have inside info, you are speculating like the rest of us.

I think its almost asured that base price will be "close to $60k", no? Whether it turns out to be a few K less or a few K more is another matter, but it will almost surely by closer to $60k than it is to $50k (and $70k for that matter). So at best you are looking at just under $70k when you figure for tax.

Looks like I'll have about $4k in options on top of the base price.

I most certainly believe him.

Base price almost has to be below $60k, since one can add $7-11k in options rather quickly. I estimated my options at $10,700. I can't see a fully loaded M3 going for anything over $70k.

I'm hoping mine will price out @ $67,000 or less.

Agreed! I'm still thinking somewhere between $55k-57k. That's a good $5-7k more than the E46 M3's '06 base price.

My OTD dollar cap for this car is between $62 -65,000 with options. If it comes out any higher, I'll look at alternatives....not worth more, IMO.

Good luck! I don't know what CT tax is off hand but 10.7*$59k = $63.1k. Add 19s and a dealer destination charge and you are beyond $65k.

If BMW prices this car base in the 60s and a decently optioned one is in the 70s, then I believe it will be to BMW's own peril in the long term. If there are genuine BMW enthusiasts, such as on this board, who won't buy a 3 series no matter how special it is that is priced, options included, anywhere north of 60k; then you can bet your bottom dollar there will be a lot of badge concious non enthusiasts who will look for higher a prestige badge for similar dollars.

I would be surprised if BMW made the same mistake as they did with overpricing the M5 and M6 but greed does have it's prestige. I am watching to see if BMW finally decides to CPO the M5 and M6. If they choose not to, there should be an army of red flags flying in regards to all M products.

I stand a chance here in Oregon, since we don't have sales tax!
