The EAS crew headed out to Las Vegas Speedway for the third time this year, where Yost and the EAS VF620 Supercharged M3 were able to take victory.

1. Mandatory transponders to all participating sponsors
2. Vehicles are grid according to times from earlier morning runs
3. Shoot out will be up for 10 laps - winner take all
4. Sponsors can choose their own driver for their car.
5. Sponsors can choose which car (or cars) they want to run
6. Vehicles that pit for any reason during the course of the shoot out are disqualified

The MFest Tuner Shootout pits drivers and cars against the clock to see who can run the fastest lap time according to runtimes from earlier sessions. The event catered only to tuner based vehicles and the event saw a stacked field with ESS-Supercharged M3s, Supercharged CTS-Vs, GTR, and even a Murcielago. Making the 300+ mile drive from their HQ in Anaheim, the EAS VF620 Supercharged M3 ran their fastest lap of the shootout on Yokohama AD08 street tires in the sweltering 107F Vegas heat.
Tom,

First off congrats, excellent work, congrats to VF and Jordan as well. But I am a little confused with, what appears to be, an assertion that your car ran the fastest time over all the cars that participated in the tuner challenge.

On Saturday only a few hours after the track event I had dinner with my buddy Casey and the guys from HG motorsports, HG ran Casey's GTR in the tuner challenge. Casey actually won the tuner challenge in his Alpha 6 GTR. Casey had the best lap time, which was the only car I believe under the 2 minute mark. FWIW Casey is no slouch behind the wheel by any means and he's very capable, but certainly not a pro driver like Jordan, so he was quite excited about winning the event.

FWIW, the only ESS car that participated in the track event was Biglare's VT600, not a fully prepped track car, but certainly no slouch either, and I believe his car did win one of the three laps vs. your car, but your best time beat his by 3 seconds or so, no question that you certainly deserve credit for having the fastest BMW lap time. However, I think with regards to who actually won the event overall, some clarification is in order here. It appears that you were the fastest BMW but not the fastest car there, regardless great job!

i've been getting phone calls about this also... i don't know for sure but a friend says he has all the lap times from the tuner shootout on paper.

not trying to take any glory from EAS but just want to make sure the facts are straight

Casey in the Alpha 6 HG Motorsports GTR had several laps under the 2:00 time and I was riding with him when he posted a 1:57 and 1:59 during the Tuner Shootout! He was the only one under the 2:00 mark all day long. Casey is an amazing driver and would have been even faster without me in the car!

From the man himself:

From our perspective, the primary focus of MFest is M cars. Not GTRs.

However, the fact we were giving Alpha-equipped GTRs a run for their money on the track makes our M3 (and team) even more awesome, thanks for chiming in.

Yes Mfest is more about BMW's, but you were the one who brought up the other non-BMW cars that were there competing in the same event, in which you appeared to be inferring that you beat the GTR. So obviously it was a primary focus in your initial post.

My buddy won the overall event with his GTR, so that's why I clarified, I'm sure it wasn't intentional on your part that you left out that pertinent info. But no doubt you were the fastest BMW there, and you guys did an awesome job.

FWIW, here's the tuner challenge trophy that HG received after winning the "overall" tuner challenge. .
