Retrofit 2008 MY Gas Pedal Assembly into 2011 MY (Auto-Blip)

I have an Auto-Blip in my 997 GT3 that I track heavily. Before all the trolls I can heel toe however when driving my car to the max at the track the Auto-Blip helps me concentrate more on braking.

I installed to Auto-Blip into my 2011 M3 and it appears Auto-Blip only works on 2008 model years.

Is it possible to retrofit a 2008 MY gas pedal and assembly into a 2011 MY?

I found this thread but it only gives part numbers:

Wow I didn't even know a difference existed. The 08 pedal assembly looks nicer to my eyes. Though not sure if theres any actual gain besides using auto-blip like OP has suggested.

Still I'm curious to see if it works!

wait i’m confused, does the DCT not rev match on downshifts or are you somehow trying to retrofit a rev match for manual?

Can you provide details on what an "auto blip" is? (not what it does) - Is this a product of some sort?

Regardless of how the pedals look, their functionality is the same. Is it some device you attach to the pedal?

Curious on your results as I have a 2010 6 speed and was looking into this until I stumbled onto that thread about the 2008 only.

Mike is that something you could do with coding perhaps?

BTW - Thanks to Mike I have the Stage 1 tune on my 2012 M3 E92 - and I've had it for over a year now, the tune is sublime and was how the cars should have come from the factory. Also had Mike do the Sirius/XM satellite radio code too, again was so easy and went perfect -

Mike if you think you could do an 'auto-blip' with as a tune (add-on), I'd be very interested. My M3 is a 6-speed and always thought it'd be cool to have that feature - ideally to turn on or off at will.

Cheers,
Merlin

I've got one for my 08 m3 6mt and aside from standing on your head to install, (as with anything under the dash panels) it is absolutely awesome to have for a track driven car. I turn mine off while driving on the street and just heel toe my way around town, but when driving at my limit it's so awesome to have the consistency and repeatability of the automatic blip to get into sync with and keep everything smooth.

It's one thing I would replace immediately before my next track day if I broke it somehow.

I'm also pretty positive this is not something you can (or should) do via tune, and even if you could you wouldn't have any on the fly adjustability.

With auto blip you reach down a turn knobs to adjust the delay and duration of the blip. Not everyone shifts with the same quickness or drives with the same aggression. This is where having physical knobs to turn to match your driving style come in handy.

If I have time today I'm going to swap the 2008 pedal in my car. Hopefully everything will be plug and play.

I installed the AutoBlimp on my 08. I do enjoy it on the Track but dial the knobs all the way down for street driving.

Update: swapping in the 2008 pedal into my 2011 worked! I'm so happy! For street driving I just set everything to off but with nearly a flick of the wrist I dial it where it needs to be for rev match braking. Couldn't be happier!

It would be nice to see it at work (just a simple phone video perhaps)?

Here's an example from the manufacturer, basically same thing as my M3.

Super cool

So to get it to work you just need to swap the pedal to a 2008 version and get the autoblip. I like this already!!

Exactly. I got a 2008 pedal on ebay for $25 shipped. I believe the part number is in my first post.

Why does the unit require a 2008 pedal? Whats the difference?
