Yes, or the "high speed autocross" where they put cones on a track.

HSAX like they run at Blackhawk does not have cones. It is essentially a standing start time trial for a single lap.

I had a fantastic track day at Nurburgring this summer. Move to 11:10 and follow to 11:35. I had way above 200 km/h before braking and the ABS kicked in much harder than expected. With PFC rotors and AP Racing Pro 5000 calipers you normally don't have to press very hard to brake, but in this case I should have pushed harder from the start and had a "scary" moment...

I'm sure you are having fun during these autocross sessions, but I think I would get lost between the cones early in the autox. Do you spend time learning the track before attending? Anyhow, seems like good fun!

Most clubs encourage people to walk the course in the morning upon arriving. I have been to some really terrible autocrosses where they make it a maze of doubling-back and people get lost or just flat-out forget half of the track.

They give a ~30min window for you to walk the course as much as you want. No matter how many times I walk the course, I keep forgetting the turns until I'm about 1/3 - 1/2 way through the day. 4 sessions, 3 runs per session.

I was intimidated the first time around, but you it's not so bad. I like autocross because it doesn't hurt the wallet as much as a track day.

Very hard to avoid oversteering moments in Yas Marina Circuit, especially when you are 3 hot laps in on used NT01, enjoy the watch!

**Gets interesting after turn 4

Here's an old one from Bimmerfest 2016 while I was trying to smoke the last of the 7 year old OEM tires:

And a few in the race car. Had a pretty awesome experience mowing the lawn at ACS in this first one starting at 3:05, I didn't see the cone until I was already off the track and had to go left to avoid it at the last second due to the big carbon splitter on the front of the car.

Last day on maxxis RC1 - around 25 heat cycles. Had tread depth but had no grip. The beginning of the video is when I tried to keep it tidy (more of a "save") thinking they may have one more session in them but quickly learned there weren't any left. So of course, had to toast (not really "saves" anymore). Some people weren't happy.

CA tracks seem kind of anal about the drifting deal. I've come out of some corners pretty damned sideways and have yet to get black flagged.

Dang...that's what I can expect after 25 heat cycles (~6 days) from the RC1s?

25 heat cycles include around 3-4 end of day shenanigans.

I think it was owner or one of his buddies. So owns a track, makes money off it, and doesn't expect people to have fun? Lol

As long as no one else is around and you're not drifting towards manned corner worker stations...I don't see much of an issue. But it seems to piss some people off for whatever reason.

I think its a necessary part of driver development. Its nice to have those skills in your tool box when something happens. Things will turn out better.

I'm with you on that one but most ppl unfortunately don't think that way. They just scared driving through the rubber fog LOL
