Thanks man!

I think it's ok as long as you let everyone pass you and you have space behind you and in front of you and preferably no walls in the beginning - that's when you let all hell break loose!!!

First time I tried was on a test day with a bunch of Lemons cars lol so there was plenty of space everywhere.

Pretty much a fine layer of dust over everything. I spent a good hour trying to get as much of it out as possible. Was using the air compressor at the Buttonwillow tire shop, it helped a bit, as well as the leather cleaner I brought with me, haha. I think most of it is out - just have to get carpets vacuumed for the rest.

Maybe detail brush the tiny gaps all over the place too

Autocross was how I first started to learn the car's limits safely.

After going to Bondurant and doing all of the skid car exercises, it's second nature to me now:

I say well done for getting out there and having a go. You win hands down over any Garage Queen and their "rolling photos" posts!

They take the weight off the tires to as much of an extant as you want so car has grip level like ice. Helps move the car around and feel how it works going slower.

I was thinking, "is that thing such a piece of shit that they have to put wheels on it to keep it from flipping?" Lol

thats pretty much what i had when i went off at the top of turn 1 at the streets last october. i picked up a air gun attachment for my home compressor and it helped a bunch. opened both doors, got to blasting. aim the gun up and out of the door to blow the airborne dust out. what doesn't blow off, a dry microfiber towel will pickup.

my "off" was similar to yours. i counter steered, but probably not fast enough, cranked the wheel but no save. i think recognizing the slide quickly and acting quickly is key. i would love to practice this.

Used some very old R-comps for autocross yesterday. Provided very little grip (I placed 170/181 with PAX correction ) and didn't screech, but I was still able to feel when I was reaching the grip threshold. Worked really well for learning how to counter steer. I need to find a skid pad and practice more car control with them.

Edit: They updated the results, and I'm actually 147/181. 6/6 in SM class.

looking at the cones in autox courses makes me frustrated. i understand the indicators and such, but i feel like i would end up running over a ton of cones before the day was through.

I certainly did. There was a large amount of effort involved to scrub the cone marks off the car.

Lol. You learn and learn to move on if you do hit a cone or few.

If you look closely, you can see a battle scar on my car. Never mind, photo quality is shitty through this image host.

Lol. I think the worst part is that the cones are all like 90 years old and coated with some grimy stringy substance that just leaves terrible marks on white paint.

I haven't had any issues on my car.

I can believe that. Met a guy with silver E46 M3 at COTA on Sunday. He did three days in a row, and there were rubber marks EVERYWHERE.

Yep mine is tiag also. Use R3 rubber remover all the time as well as rejex to try and stop some of it or at least make it easier to come off.
