I couldn't get 11L/100km if I tried. Even when I fill up in the U.S., go straight onto the highway and drive all the way back to Toronto, I'm still in the 12's. If someone is getting 11's, I don't think they're driving the M3 the way it's supposed to be driven! |

There's nothing mythical about 11's. Last year I did a 700 km trip to northern Quebec and got 9.6 l/100 km. I put the car in 6th and left the cruise control on at 10-15 over the limit. Didn't want to go too fast as the road was wet and I was transitioning into freezing temps. Later on there were isolated patches of black ice.

I've been using 94 since I got the car, and am pretty consistant at 13.5L/100km.
Last week, I decided to try Shell 91 V Power, and within' 50km's into the tank, it dropped to 13.4L/100km This is a mixture DVP parking lot driving and Richmond Hill city. Ive gotten as low as 13.4, and I feel I push the car at least once a day, so I am very surprised people are getting higher than 14L/100km's. Must be ripping it all the time lol! |

I wanted to get some driving tips out of you guys, since a few of you are getting 11L - 13L / 100km. I have tried my best and I'm still constantly on 15.x; Do you guys shift at 2 - 3 k rpm? Our car has absolutely no power below 2k rpm lol or that maybe most of the high gas mileage guys are driving dct?

I use 94 no issues. I've used 94 in all my other cars and had no issues. I dunno how much value this "ethanol" has.
AVG MPG is 14.6L/100km. I've seen 11.2L/100km on the highway. Nitrogen has no beneficial properties in the conbustion chamber. Its a filler at best. |

The fuel systems in most cars have the capacity to compensate for the reduction in energy content by injecting more fuel, this extra fuel is injected is the reason why fuel economy decreases when using ethanol blended fuel.
Our Ultra 94 (I work for Suncor the parent company of Petro Canada) Is listed as a Top-Tier fuel so using it in your BMW is absolutely fine. The main issue with ethanol blended fuel is that it is Hygroscopic (AKA, it absorbs water). As long as you are burning your tank of fuel in a reasonable period of time there will be no issue with this, however, if you are planning on storing your car for an extended period (more than 2-3 months), fill the tank with some ethanol free fuel so that it does not end up absorbing a pile of water during storage. I have been using Ultra 94 in my car ever since it became available in town this summer and the car works great on it, but before winter storage, I ran the tank almost bone dry and filled up with V-Power and added a bottle of fuel stabilizer. |

But, this means the other "O" molecule get lonely and has to find someone to hang out with. Like another "N", Mr "H", Mr "C" or even worse double "H" which forms CO or H2O .... see how bad Nitrogen is all this pollution No hatin' its late |

Would you be angry if I told you I broke the 11L/100km mark a few days ago? Got 10.8. The secret is to drive smooth. drive highway and leave buffer zones so you never have to break/accelerate much. slow is smooth and smooth is fast...and fuel efficient
Of course whenever I want to have some fun or blow someone away, it shatters my record instantly. I have real time mpg enabled now and it shows up as 30-40l/100km when you're accelerating! If I don't reset the fuel economy for 6months or so It's usually 12L. don't let anyone tell you that v8's aren't efficient. modern ones are I also have dct which economy shifts for you if you don't mash it. I can't believe I'm actually getting the bottom limit of BMW's fuel consumption #s. They rate it at 10.5-15.5 highway/city. I thought manufacturers always lied on these, buts its legit.
