Thumbs up 911 (992) Carrera S

Hi all,

I rented a 992-generation Porsche 911 Carrera S for a day back when I was shopping sports cars. I was completely blown away at how the 992 was fantastic at just about everything: It's a master of daily driving, highway blasting, drag launches and canyon runs. Especially the launches! It bolts like a GT-R yet it's only RWD. (Full writeup with pictures here.)

My shopping ultimately put me in a used AMG GT S -- mostly because it was 60% of the 992's price -- but I do think back to that 992 often. My AMG has 503 hp, but it feels slower than the 443 hp 992 C2S. I think Porsche is flat-out lying with its power ratings.

Anyone else had a great drive in the 992? What were your impressions?

Best!
Mike

I guess I'm the only one who has tried a 992!

Too big, too heavy, too numb, too expensive. I don't understand the point of buying a new 911 personally

Are you comparing the 992 911 to an E90 M3? The 992 is a bit lighter than the M3...

I guess if you're comparing it to prior Porsche models, I see some of your logic.
