Anyone needed to rebuilt BBK caliper?
Hi all. Received a PM from another post member and wanted to ask the larger audience.
Is there a specific mileage you should rebuild your BBK calipers? The research I've done did not return much information. Race cars have theirs rebuilt after a race or during a race if there is a failure. But on a car that does a mix of street/track is there a recommended maintenance period? Or is it if a piston fails, seals leak, other malfunction that triggers a rebuild. I didn't find any relative info on the post so figured it should be a good topic to cover. Thanks in advance to those who chime in with their experience.

The question is more aimed at the track setting. Race parts typically have more frequent maintenance intervals in my experience. For example, you buy a used BBK from another member that has 15k miles with a blend of street and handful of track days. Should you rebuild the calipers before you trust them on the track? (looking for expert recommendation, not personal preference if possible) Or do you wait until a piston seizes, o-ring fails, or other failure?

Preventative maintenance is one thing but saying reg maintenance is another. Irregardless I never rebuily my Brembos w/ over a few years of heavy use. Quote:
Again, I didn't touch my Brembos through 2 + years of heavy abuse. Granted I would def look them over but never required attention other than pads. |
