When I'll change my cars, it will probably be either an RS3 or a RS5 depending if I keep the M3 or not. |

Because if we want to stick with traditions, then the E9x M3 shouldn't weigh 3700 lbs nor should it have a V8 (should be an I6). Hell, if we really want to be true to the lineage, than this car should be coupe and cabrio only, with an Inline 4. With each iteration, BMW will gain and lose customers. There will be fans of each model. I just happen to like them all (well maybe not so much the E30 and the price those things are going for).

Every high HP car is limited by traction. You don't think any RWD supercar will spin tires through the first 2 gears if you let it? As far as mods go, if traction is your biggest issue, just put on a set of 295 or 305 sticky tires in the back of the F80 and problem solved. It could be worse. See the stock tires sizes on a C63 AMG.

Im trying not to bash you. I just find it unfair to compare a Stock F8x to a well modified E9x M3. Let alone a speciale thats 5x the price Will have to agree to disagree on this I love the RS5. Wish I got one of those instead of 2 E92 M3's

And I'm not comparing my M3 with the F8x, I'm just comparing their power delivery to explain why the F8x could have been a better car with an N/A engine that produce similar hp then the S55 but with an S65 type of delivery! But like you said, let's agree to disagree! |

Makes alot of sense. Im not the engine modding type of person. Never have done that but will see with the F8x im getting. Thats the same thing I ask my friends who bump their GTR's/Turbos/M3's/Vettes/Mustangs to over 800+ and up hp. Where are you truly going to enjoy that?! And the truth is, they really cant on public streets/day to day driving. They have to trailer it out to Shift S3ctor and really open it up. Wider tires will help with that. After my first set, im bumping it up to 295 rears. You mentioned RS3? Did not know Audi is coming out with that

This thread ends the same way as every other M3 vs M3 thread... aka pick the one you like best.

I agree. they F80 IS in fact a great car. it looks great, made by BMW, is hella fast etc.... my ONLY REAL beef is the engine sound. I dont even care about turbo lag, turbos, the fact its a 6 cylinder etc... to me the V8 M3 with a exhuast had a kill sound that cannot be touched by the F80. i value the sound of a engine, just has much as the perforuamce and looks. So the f80 is not the car for me. BUT for someone who likes the sound or doesnt care as much. the F80 would make a great fit.

Keep some money aside for new rotors on the RS5. They usually start to vibrate under 10k miles. I rode in one. Rather boring car. You can ask user "racedoc11" for his take on the RS5. He can barely wait to get rid of it. He owned a E93 M as well.

Well, for sure there is a second gen RS3 hatch arriving soon in Europe and some other countries, the car has already been spotted with camouflage on. And also Audi has built the A3 Clubsport to showcase what an RS3 sedan could look like, so all there is still to know is if they are going to bring it to North America, but IMO that's a given, with the huge demand for the CLA45 AMG and the arrival of the M2, Audi would be crazy not to!
Here's the A3 Clubsport: |

If they would have built a wagon, I would have been alllllllllllll over that. I think right now, the most likely next BMW for me is either an M2, or a 328d Wagon (keep the E36 and mod the hell out of it). There's still a small chance an LCI F80 ends up in the fleet though.

I use to know a guy who owned a twin turbo 700HP 350z. He was into that street racing thing. Had a lot of fun highway races . So there is a place and time for 800+HP. but most people who just want a fun Daily driver, its to much. |

Thanks for the advice but I'm speaking of the next gen of RS5, the B9, it will have a new 6cyl 3.0l. with twin turbo, will probably make +550hp/550tq with simple bolt-ons and tune and will have AWD to put all that power down. I also like the B8 but just like my M3 when it was stock, the engine is lacking a bit in the power department and unlike for the E9x, there's no cheap solution for that.

There is also talk of a small displacement V8 twin turbo coming for the RS4/5. I remember hearing somewhere that audi said " if AMG can do it, so can we" talking about keeping a V8. |
