Air Vent direction tabs missing

Ok, so the previous owner of my car for some UNKNOWN REASON decided to remove the little tabs that let you slide the air vent left or right to control the direction of the vent He did this on ALL 4 front vents.

Since I bought the car off of a used car dealer in another state that's not an option. I already have a few small things I'm going to take to the local BMW dealer in a few days however it seems unlikely they would cover this under warranty. I could see one or two but not all of them. I'll try of course though. I searched realoem and also other forums and it appears you have to buy the whole vent to get the tab as they are not sold separately.

This is mainly a post to whine but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.
