The other things are undue attention, little usable space, and impracticalbility. For examples, I would feel uncomfortable for clients to know I have a Ferrari and I can't pick up my kids in the car (two seater). Like I said, I love the M3 as a practical sports car. Fun to drive and able to do a lot of functions well. Even when I had a GT3, I found it hard to drive everyday. Great track car, but a crappy daily driver. |

It's the best for the money. Audi, Cadi, Mercedes cost more and are not as good. A lot of M3 owners also have Porches. This is a better daily driver and far more classy.
There is a ton of BMW's in SD, but rarely an M3. |

LOL Try them all and then decide. I have had a 964 c4, 993 c2s and I would not leave my m3 to go back, but they are a easy transition from the M. Personal preference on this. Had a 355f1 and driven lambos. They are not a replacement for the m3 either as far as I am concerned. I guess having them all is the perfect scenario

Sorry to disagree ... my friend is a multi millionaire and owns 2 Corvettes (among other cars) and is about to order the ZR1 as well ...
so in my book the Vette nor the M3 is by no means a poor mans car ... Besides the Corvette is a fine automobile ... I might just get one myself Visit the factory and museum some day ... your opinions might change. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dakel, Your thread inspired me to post some photos as well in the off topic section (hope that is the right area if not do move it). I added photos I took last year when my best friend and I drove down to Bowling Green Kentucky to visit the Corvette Factory and the Museum. We had a great time. My friend loves Corvettes and drives nothing else nevertheless he so enjoyed driving my M3. I thought you and others from around the globe might enjoy this. Have a peek at the photos here ----> Click to open the link kere

May I add this ... It's an all around car, you can take it to the office, go shopping with it and take the wife out to a fine restaurant (fine she might complain about the exhaust note, I give you that). On the weekend you can go to the hardware store, take the seats down and bring home that extra long item for the weekend project. Did I mention take her to the track. Most of all for me anyway ... it is a safe and fast car power to call upon when needed (my first ///M3 saved my life otherwise I would not type this today) ... last but by no means least it does not attract attention like some other so called super cars do ... as I said an all around car and I like it that way.

I see many many Porsches around me while driving everyday. Sometimes 2-3 next to each other. I have yet to see that many M3s around, no way. To me, and someone here mentioned, Porsches all look the same and to see another Porsche doesn't really attract my attention. M cars are very exclusive, there aren't that many around and I always feel and see people checking my car out. I can afford a 911 and a GTR but I got an M3.

Having had the privilege of parking the M3 next to a CS, I can say that the M3 is much more than a poor man's supercar because of its versatility and practicality.

No! The M3 is the smart man Supercar, Are you kidding. The car is easiest to drive daily and if you ask this question again I will be forced to test your theory of nonense. Drove from Petaluma to Oaktown. Smooth as silk. Kill me if I am wrong but... Porches everywhere. Saw my grandson! Got home safe. this car will...Laguna Seca!

Being wealthy or not doesn't have anything to do with an M3 and it's association as an alternative to a "supercar." A billionaire friend of mine drives a ZR1 and couldn't care less about cars like an Enzo. To answer your question: The M3 is no where near the same galaxy as a supercar. "Poor man's" alts are Ferrari F12, Lambo Aventador, cars in the $500,000 range where today "supercars" like the Mclaren P1, Bugatti, Ferrari F70 are $1,000,000+. Those are the supercars.

After reading some of the posts, a M3 isn't a Poor Man's Supercar. There are many other cars that are "Supercar" in power, performance, and are dedicated to that purpose vs. a M3 (i.e. Z06).
