Vendor to Reverse BBS LM Face?
Hello M3post,
I would like to ask the help of the forum to point me in the direction of a local vendor/person in SOCAL that can help me reverse the faces on my BBS LM's. I have read that Long Tran has completed this job for a few members here but I haven't had any luck in contacting him recently so I will look for someone else. I PM'd him last week and also tried calling his shop today but no one picked up. I understand he may be busy with other customers and completing his shop, but I think a week to respond to a PM is reasonable time right, especially if you are running a business? If someone that knows him could have him contact me that would be nice, but suggestions for other competent sources at reasonable prices would be considered as well. I would love to support a fellow enthusiast but if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. If anyone knows, could you please also post pricing and turnaround time for something like this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and feedback, redEYEjedi Last edited by redEYEjedi; 05-13-2010 at 05:39 PM.. |

I reversed the lip on my rear BBS LM wheel. It's fairly simple with the correct tool and bit. You need a torque wrench that allows you to tighten bolts 25-35 pounds. I spoke to various wheel experts and was suggested anywhere from 25 to 35 so personally I did 30 pounds. You will also need a 6 point (or 8 point) 12mm socket (I'll check @ the shop tomorrow). Fairly easy job, just takes some time. I also suggest using some locktite on the bolts when you refasten them.
You gain about 8mm on the offset and gain an extra step in your lip PM me if you have any more questions. |

I love your car thats one mean drop!
Anyway, Yeah I've been trying to contact Long Tran too, no luck either. Emailed him a few times with no luck.. Its hard to find a shop thats comfortable enough to reverse the face for you. I wish you the best of luck in your search! lol. I know there might be 1 shop in the glendale area that might be able to help you out, but the name of the shop just eludes me...Something tells me that its called 'Need4Speed' (no reference to the video game but I think thats the actual shop name). Remembered seeing a thread on the Mfest forums that vouched for them so...worth a try? |

I was told it would lower the offset about 11mm~ from a friend that works at Work Wheels.
I was hoping to have Long do this job because his shop is relatively close to my work so I could drop off the wheels during my lunch break. I know there are DIY's and the job doesn't seem too difficult, but honestly I wanted a shop to do this because IF there were any problems, someone would be liable for it, and I prefer it to not be me. I think this is the smartest and safest route for anyone looking to do this. It's not a new concept to reverse the faces, but I guess there are still those who do not know about this. Your welcome lol. |

haha must be the best lunch breaks ever! Since then Long has contacted me so I hope to be going in sometime this week. This is good news because I've read a lot of great things about Long and trust that he'll do nothing but the best for me and my LM's. I'm just waiting for a replacement tire for my spare set of wheels and then off to LTBMW I go! Thanks for all the replies guys. Appreciate all the help, even though I'm actually an E60 guy and not an E9x. |

I recommend Status autoworks. They are in torrance.
310-618-8886. Dave is usually in the shop in the afternoon. I would ask for him. Ed Lin
