Widest set of rear tires without modification
Hey guys I just upgraded to an 08 M3 from my 07 335i. I need a new set of tires for my M3. What is the widest set of rear tires I can run without any rubbing and no body modifications? I have the 19" wheels and not the 18".
I'm seeing some people stating 285 and 295 is fine, but I wanted further advice. If anyone has some insight or did this for their M3 the feedback would be very much appreciated! Thanks! |

Verify the difference in circumference between the original sizes and the tires you are contemplating. The key is to achieve the desired look without effecting your ABS/DSC function at all. 285s on factory wheels are a good upgrade, and move up to 255s or 265s on the front to match the change in the rear. Again, check the circumference and revs per mile on tire racks website. They list all sizes of each particular tire. You don't have traction issues like you do when you mod your 335. The lower torque output in comparison to a modded N54 helps in the traction category big time.
