P0020 - Increased Emissions
Hi everyone, new to the E9x M3 platform. I picked up a 2008 E90 M3 with relatively low mileage for its age (49K). The car has been sitting for a while probably only been fired up 4 times in 3 months.
I had to replace a Throttle actuator on bank 1 just the other day (my first DIY on the car) and the error cleared however after an hour or so of driving it is now throwing P0020: Camshaft Position Actuator A - Bank 2 Circuit malfunction. As it stands, the car feels fine no rough idle or harsh starts etc. seems 100%. Anyone have an idea on how to troubleshoot fix this as a DIY? I searched the forums and Google and didn't find much. Anyone have any input or ideas? |

That is for the camshaft actuator circuit not the throttle actuator. I am not getting a throttle actuator code and it’s not going into limp mode. I wanted to get this sorted ASAP as I need to get it s******. Hate to go to the dealership without knowing something.

Just want to follow up with this in case someone tries to search for this code. So in my particular case this was vanos solenoid bank 2, there are a total of 4 1 for each camshaft. Bank 2 is on the right side set of cyclinders underneath the intake plenum. I removed the solenoid degreased it and blew it out with high pressure air. Inspected and cleaned the plug connectors and reinstalled it. Error when away. Total time was about 40 minutes.
