ditch the "black and yellow" in favor of some color matched yellow HRE's!

Very thin, not too thick, but also painting the part that touches the bead of the tire, So basically masking the inner circle only. Also, running a black outline around the rear taillights to simulate the "black lines" on the sedan taillights. Either or, the car is looking great and keep us updated
I haven't considered that. Its not really what I'm going for, but the mockup looked a lot better than I expected. I was surprised to see that a yellow time attack actually could work on a car like this. At some point I might do a time attack just to say I did it, but its nothing i would do in the near future.

Regarding the rear tail lights, if anything I would get them painted/tinted a slightly darker color. But right now I'm really loving the LCI tail lights, so I think I'm going to go with those for a while. Maybe you could show me a pic of exactly what you mean though to give me a better idea of what you had in mind.

Thanks

sorry for going off topic. here is a quick mock up of what it would look like. for your car ( i suck at photoshop )
Thanks for the mockup man. It looks a lot better than I thought it would. Like I said above though, not really part of the design philosophy i had in mind for this car.

That being said I do love this yellow e92 and would love to see some new pictures of it.
IHB. I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say older posts get repeated sometimes. Every time someone posts onto a thread that thread gets bumped up to the top of the thread list. Does that answer your question? Or were you going somewhere else with that?

Anyway, some new pictures are coming soon. By the end of NEXT week, I should have my Vorsteiner Trunk installed, along with a few other small goodies.

Still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the front though. Euro Front Bumper with Lip? (biggest problem here is that there are no lips that I really like out there). RDSport Stradale Front Bumper? I've even recently started considering the Amuse Front Bumper. We'll see I suppose.

Not looking to do the color matched rims. Not my thing. Though I admit they don't look bad, it just gives the car a more "toy"-ish look. And that's just not the look I'm going for.

Teaser - Piano Black is here......

So when I originally placed my order with BMW Individual for the European Delivery of my car, I had specified Carbon Leather as my trim. But as more and more time went by, I thought to myself, if I'm going Individual I might as well get something a little special .... Piano Black !

I picked up the phone and called BMW Individual, and asked them to change the order to reflect the new trim. And they were willing to oblige. The only problem was.... : it was going to throw my production date back two weeks.... and I had already bought my NON REFUNDABLE round trip tickets to germany !!

Luckily the great people over at BMW Indvidual had a solution for me - they were going to let me take delivery of my car on the original date, with the original Carbon Leather ... and then ship the Piano Black pieces out to me immediately thereafter as soon as they were created for me It was great news

It took a little bit of time... but look what just came in the mail

answer is yes and no. It only cost me 100 dollars more to do it this way ( meaning to get both he carbon leather AND piano black trims ) than it would have to get just the piano black trim alone. For all intents and purposes I pretty much walked away with the carbon leather trim for free.

If you establish a good relationship with BMW M they go out of their way to accommodate. Their customer service is impeccable.

I've always wanted to see a Dakar yellow car with some Vorsteiner Carbon-Kevlar parts, but nobody ever does it

Would be insanely sick!

Thats what I wanted to hear!!

I would keep both trims. Perhaps a couple years from now you many want to change things up and go another direction.

I never even knew these parts existed. Even when you go onto vorsteiner's own website to look at M3 parts, they themselves make no mention of their carbon kevlar accessories.

Can you share some photos of the carbon kevlar accessories with us here? A link would do too.

The "Premium" for BMW individual is such that I don't really feel they are going out of there way for you. $5k for paint, plus a lot more if you do individual leather too... they aren't doing any favors, just making good ol money

They used to offer blue, red, yellow, etc back in the day, but the requests became a little unwieldy (Dozens of people demanding "I want the tri-color logo under my hood" - a very labor-intensive request - for example) so they stopped offering it publicly.

Nonetheless, as you see from the photo I posted, some dealers are still able to offer it. It's made to order and only for unique projects (I think yours definitely qualifies!)

Here are some photos I dug up... there used to be promotional images with all the color options, but they've been removed from servers etc.

I'll look for some more and see what I can find...

Nothing a little Mark Zuckerberg "find and conquer the image" game can't overcome...

I can't promise Vorsteiner will do it, but I bet if we put together some kind of project car / sponsorship deal, and you were willing to provide the vehicle for a magazine shoot when it's complete, we could probably make it happen.

If not, no worries, just thought it was something cool worth sharing!
Great car, by the way!
