I run the front camera. Works pretty good during the day. Around dawn or dusk not so well in the darker areas. I feel like it doesn't capture license plates very well unless you're fairly close to the car. This is with recording settings on the highest quality.

hmm interesting.. I think I might get this. Does the rear camera interfere with the rear window shade?

I have a front mounted 1080p from Lucas. I bought it because of the design - very low key, casing not much larger than the lens. Most I've read about are huge - and with the area around the mirror for auto wipers it's already a blind spot of sorts. One key thing for these units is a circular polarizer. When shopping for that, however, seek out the lowest darkening one you can find. I don't recall what I ended up with but I can say it barely darkened the scene and cut all glare on the window.

I wish I had one front and rear since in the US it's more likely to be rear ended by an SMSing, coffee sipping, make up applying twit. One day I may add a second.

One thing a buddy of mine did - just as a tip if this works for you - is he found a company that made the camera with the guts being remote. So lens and such are on the windows but the SD card and guts are in dash somewhere. So if someone wants to vandalize your car, sees the camera and swipes it - no loss, the data is still there.

Lastly - Lucas makes a UPS of sorts that sits inline with the power of the car. This way the camera can stay on and use the power of the little box without draining your car battery. Not a huge drain, mind you, but with what it costs to change out an OEM battery...

Were you able to figure out if the rear camera interferes with the rear window shade? It looks like does....the space looks tight

I just bought the same unit. The rear camera seems small enough to fit without interfering with the rear shade.

I went to a couple of stereo installation places to do the installation because I like wires nice and hidden and I don't feel like shoving wires into my a-pillar myself. Mind if I ask how much the dealer charged?

Just tap into the fuse box and tuck the wires into the a-pillar and call it a day. The video quality is sub-par and the factory micro sd-card burned out after 3 months. Lots of pixelation, I'd stay away if I knew better.

I'm getting mixed messages from the vendor on whether the fuse box is a good place to tap (as opposed to the battery). The YouTube videos posted state that the battery is the preferred source. But in emails, he recommends the fuse box.

Any idea which fuse to use for the always-on wire?
And for the acc wire?
