That is a really good price. Was it a class using their cars or using your own?

Either way I could see spending that kind of money on some good instruction.

which one?

If I recall correctly, there are 3 stations in the AM, then 3 stations in the PM where you rotate through. I think they are 20-30 minutes a piece.

That's not bad that would probably be my favorite part.

I forgot in your review but do they do a hot lot at the end ?

I did the 2-day Advanced M Driving School at VIR. Doing a lead follow with Tom Long (Grand Am) on the uphill esses, getting sideways and recovering (very lucky), well worth every penny. HPDE are cheaper but it's your car and your risk of loss. I'd do it again in, defiantly get the BMWCCA membership, you get a discount on parts from the dealer as well.

Can't totally disagree but in my case I do have a free flight coupon from Southwest so that is already covered...

Trying to read up on the M school but are all the cars manual? If they are I will have to brush up on my shifting!

Most of it not all will be available with DCT. 1Ms are mostly manuals. Do not worry about manual vs. DCT. Join BMW CCA, get the discount, attend the 2-day M School learn to be a better driver and enjoying learning on their cars not yours. And focus on having FUN!!!!

Figured that with the M3's, M5's and possibly M6's. Read elsewhere that the 1M's were being replaced with the M6's though not sure on the timing of that switch... Been a BMWCCA member for years now and definitely got the discount. Going to be a long wait until July!

No. The M5, M3, and M6 are DCT. The 1 Ms, however, were manual. If you can't drive manual, they'll have an automatic 135 for you.

by some off chance if there are manual cars other than the 1 M, you can let the instructors know and they'll ensure you get a car that isn't

Thanks, good to know. I can drive a manual, that is not the problem. Just never done it under these circumstances. Actually would be interesting to give it a go though as a DCT owner I would rather spend more time with that platform as that will what I use back at home. Been wanting to take the car to the track and this is the first step...

I did the 2 Day M School in January. The 1Ms are gone. Everything is DCT (M3, M5, and M6). They said they spent too much time with people on heal-toe shifting who didn't know how to drive a manual very well and burning out clutches.

As for the cost compared to an HPDE day, would you rather drive your car or theirs? A guy in my class put a new M5 into a guard rail and cost him nothing. Sure you can drive your own car for way less at an HPDE day, but the BMW facilities are top notch and I personally think you will drive harder when you know it's not something you have to pay to fix...

Also on Day 2, you can get cars over 100mph on the large course. You also get some cool swag like a custom helmet. I really like the fleece jacket they "give you" (you obviously paid for it).
