How did you feel about the height? 650 pretty accurate - or did they have they same guy that measured the width measure the height too? Hopefully its not a ~ 29" tall tire

Thanks!
The OD on all three tires is very similar, right around 25.5” which is right at 645/650mm. At least that measurement is honest!!

A friend of mine was running 18x10 ET25 wheels with 265/35/18 A052 and rubbed through the fender liner and damaged his fuel filler mechanisms. Car wouldn't accept anymore fuel until he replaced parts.

It looked like he was rubbing due to heavy compression at Laguna Seca's corkscrew. He had softened the suspension in the rear to combat oversteer. I looked at my own car, with 18x10 ET25 with 275/35/18 NT01 and I do have a tiny little bit of rub marks in that spot too!
The Corkscrew loads up the driver's side, not the passenger side. At Laguna, Turn 6 does load up the passenger side quite heavily if you take it fast enough. Here I am in Turn 6.

From instances like Turn 6, I have rubbed the fuel filler, but only by running super fat rear tires like the Yokohama A005 300/650/18. I had to roll the rear fenders to fit that monster under the car.

So, if you lower your car and run a super fat rear tire, the fuel filler is ask risk of being rubbed.

I don't have any issues with the Pirelli 305/645/18. The 305 Pirelli is significantly narrower than the 300 Yoko.....ah the joys of tire sizing.
Whoa

Right now I think I could put down a solid 8 minute lap on the back of a flatbed. If I really got at it maybe break into the 7's.

Personal best of 2:30 at the build level before the current work started. I'm hunting a 2:24 when we get to ST/TT3 trim... I think the car will be capable - not sure about the driver
2:24 seems doable for a TT3 car. Track record is a 2:22 but that car and driver are beasts.

I have a 2:26 in TT3 on 245's. I think with some coaching I can get in 2:24's. Maybe not. I have only driven the track a few times. I am not a fan of the layout.

Yeah I think 2:24 is within reach of the car - I definitely think I'm going to be the limiting factor. Gonna work at it though since it's only an hour way. I actually really enjoy the layout - particularly 2 through 11. 2:22 is scootin! As is 2:26 on 245's!

Watkins Glen is also 3.4 miles long and my PB there is 2:00.x. Flows a lot better to me. Though I do like 2 - 10 at COTA.

Did you ever get to TWS? That was best track in Texas ... RIP.

My first ever track day was last October - so sadly I missed out on the TWS era. I have never met someone who disliked TWS - and it having been the best track in Texas seems like the overwhelming consensus. The stories that have come from that place can be pretty entertaining too.

Hopefully starting next year I will have the time to start venturing out from the Texas tracks. Watkins Glen is definitely on the list. If you like 2 - 10 at COTA and then like WG that much more - definitely sounds like my kind of track. The length of the back straight at COTA kind of bugs me at times - doesn't feel like it really fits but it can give a bit of a little breather at times. I'm convinced it was put in there to help corvette drivers feel like they are fast ( dparm ). The second half doesn't have quite the same flow but I do still enjoy it.

That straight is there for ZL1/Z06 drivers who are pushing an extra 200hp over me. My gearing is pretty good for COTA except for the back straight -- I am hitting redline in 4th gear (~152mph) just before the braking zone. Even if I can get to 5th gear, the time lost shifting isn't really worth it because the speed drops so much...so instead, I just let it hit the rev limiter for a sec and then get on the brakes. The 8AT is better set up for that.

In other words: "there's always someone faster than you"

2:30 is pretty fast, dude. I'm at 2:33 after three events there, but I have been whittling it down each time. I know that a stock GS can do 2:30 based on some other footage I've seen.

Just giving you a hard time man - got to rile you corvette guys up every once in awhile. Once it starts getting cooler that track comes alive, you will crack into the 2:20's.

LOL I love this! And have to agree. I have a couple of Z06 Vette friends and for one of them his main reason for owning and justifying the car is so he can go to COTA as many times as possible.

Please PM when you're setting up your WGI weekend. I've run with many PCA groups so I have a good understanding of which are a bit faster. Also it would be awesome to meet!

Ordered Accelera tires bc I needed something that was 120 TW or greater (The Drivers Edge requirement), Nankangs are scarce and overpriced currently, and for $422 figured why not. Will see how that goes in Oct.

I may also import Zestino Gredge 07RS and Circuit 07S tires to test out for them in the near future. Current “reports” indicate the RS is better than NS-2Rs.
