Feeler: Trade my 2009 White E90 M3 (DCT) for a similar 6-speed or upgrade to M5
Originally I bought a DCT thinking my wife wanted to drive the car but so far she has yet to even touch it. Car is a 2009 white M3 with just over 21k miles, very clean car overall. Thinking to either swap this car for similar 6-speed version in white or if I get lucky Dakar yellow e90 m3. Otherwise I have my eye on a 2013 white 6-speed M5 that I may pull the trigger on. One thing I'm sure about is no more DCT tranny's for me ~ I don't drive enough in traffic to warrant it and I realized I'm more of a 6-speed manual guy no matter what. Car is paid off, no lien. All paperwork and 2 keys will come with the car as well as some light mods. cheers!

I would be interested but don't have a white or yellow car.
I have an 08 with 40k miles, but have been looking at DCT cars to let the gf drive. Obviously, cash would be included on my end. If there is interest, I can share more info. |

Thanks, thought there was a few more including speed yellows?
P.S. Any trade would have to be a local deal since logistics would be too hard to trade long distance. At this point NOT selling the car so don't ask me for a price, if at a later date I decide to sell I will put up a FS ad.

I'm in no rush, will give it a few months and if nothing turns up I may just sell this one and go to a F10 M5 since the prices of those cars have really dropped like a rock!

You feel that strongly about DCT? I'm in the complete opposite situation. Woman and I want to consolidate to 1 car but I would need to get rid of my 6spd e90 for a DCT. I just don't feel like dealing with selling both cars and I have yet to drive a DCT.

For my driving style, I like to maintain lower gears but still drive at moderate speeds and accelerating at will. I hate looking at my paddle and having to see what gear I am going in manual mode. The shifts are not as fluid at slower speeds around town especially from 1-2-3 back to 2 and 1. The DCT only holds gears if you mash the throttle in a race track type situation. If I drive like that I'd be in big trouble. What I'm trying to say is the DCT is a good "ON" or "OFF" type tranny. Either you go fast or you drive like a grandma. In between which is where most of us drive, the DCT is not as smart as a human in terms of shift points and when to shift. I know manual shifting is not as fast but who really cares about that split second? Same as people who obsess about the car's weight loss. I look at some drivers and whatever they lost in car weight they gained back in themselves. They should just look in the mirror and eat less. Smaller things such as going from reverse to forward, the car will roll back a couple seconds before the gear engages, if you are not careful you will roll into another car. In a manual the clutch is instantaneous. You simply have a lot more control of the car. In all honesty I much preferred the 8-speed auto in my IS-F for cruising around town if I wanted a manual. I thought I would like the DCT better but after owning it for a while, I'll pass. We test drove a Panamera GTS with the PDK and that tranny is amazing! In sport mode it hits the down shifts even at moderate speeds and holds gears like it was connected to my brain. Drove a 458 for the weekend and I won't even compare the two trannys there since it's not really a fair comparison but Ferrari really makes sure you get your money's worth stepping up to a 458. A romp from 30-100 comes up so fast and the shift from 1-2 so absolute perfection. Currently I'm trying to locate a 6-speed manual M5 to test drive locally and if that car checks out, I know what I want to do....

Cool, thanks for that. I'm a pretty die hard manual driver whether it's for daily, weekend, or racetrack. You've further encouraged me to be lazy and not looking into selling both cars.
