Shelf life of TWS Motorsport 1060

I just picked up a bottle of the M3 engine oil from my dealer today.

At the neck of the bottle, there's a date stamp, mine says 01.11.10, which i think is a date. Is that a manufacturing date or an expiration date?

What's the shelf life of the oil?

Manufacturing date. Your 'shelf life' is probably shorter, so don't worry about that

^ yeah thanks, I bought it b/c my engine is burning oil about 6 months after the oil change. It's getting popped open soon at least before my long-distance road trip this month.

no expiration date.... since i do my own oil change every 7500 it doesnt really matter...

oh as long its not open... if it is i usually keep it for 3 months and trash it if not used.

No need to do that man; oil does NOT absorb moisture, like brake fluid does

. Just keep the bottle closed to keep it clean.

as long as its stored indoors and not left outside where it freezes, thaws, and heats up over and over again, i think you'll be fine.

i have oil from 2005 that i just put into the car in my last oil change. it looked exactly like the newer oil. there was no discoloration or separation of the oil, color was the same, viscosity was the same. i used 4 bottles of oil oil and 5 bottles of new oil altogether.

My extra oil is stored in the garage (non-heated) with the M3. Both winter over in storage. If the oil in the crankcase is fine to use after vehicle storage, why would the oil on the shelf (sealed) not be fine? I hope it would not actually "freeze" as there would be a lot pissed DD users that operate in a similar climate.

Just curious.
