Im planning on selling the car at the end of my lease with the hopes of obviously selling it at least 5 grand over what i would still owe to buy the car...if not just hand in the keys then...my buddy did this on his e46 in 2006 and made back $6,500

Ok, so thats $995+ Tax with $3500 cap, total drive offs are closer to $5200. So total payment is $1075 with $5200 drive off's for 36 months.
Thats not very good.

For BMW3R with plenty of cash on hand and the thought of driving it longer than the lease term, using a 5% loan would put even more in his pocket since the effective rate is lower than what BMW currently is using on their lease for the M3. |

I can't answer for cosmos, but I like think the current leasing factors for the M3 are awful. This is not surprising since they always are for new models, even worse on new, high-demand ones. As a compare, my $58K MSRP GS was snagged for mid-$700's, 15K/yr, $0 down except for normal signup stuff. When they want to move cars, they get aggressive with lease factors. It will be awhile before they do anything on the M3 IMO, but it will come down some. More than likely never will get crazy low since a steady demand should always exist for a lower production model.

But if I were to buy the car with minimum down. I would basically be paying the interest on the loan at the beginning and by years 3-5, I would start paying more prinicipal. So, by the time I am ready to sell the car in 3 years, I may be flip flopped.

You would make more putting down multiple security deposits and putting the remainding ~$28,000 in a CD. This would also take away your risk of losing money incase of total loss. |

My point of the $35,000 is that I was told that if I paid the lease forward, I would save over $4000 then if I just put down $7,000 and then paid a monthly lease payment. I don't know that there are any investments that would pay over $4000 on $35,000 in 3 years that are not risky. Plus ~ $1,100 would be taken from the investment account monthly. I think what I am going to do is sit down with the dealer and crunch all of the numbers when I actually can get the sedan w/DCT in a couple of months. It is great to get everyone's input before I make the actual decision. Thanks I don't know what you mean by multiple security deposists.

taxes on top, so out of pocket 3500 down, 3900 tax, 998 first month payment they waived security (returning bmw fs customer) and BMW CCA member 500 back (negated the acquisition fee), equals 8398! I questioned this to and called bmw financial services because the rates did not match what bmw had published for residual and money factors. BMW states that the dealer makes the sale and Bmw financial services supports the dealer, and they stated if you are not happy with the deal they made to go find another dealer.
