That's why I can't justify changing my wheels. The 19's look great. Sporty yet classy.

My girlfriends father picked up a 2009 M3 Brochure from BMW, and there wasn't ONE picture of an E9x M3 with the 18s on the car....WHY? because they are gross...
and FWIW, I have the 18s (not 19s) for my winter/track use. I dread going to the track because I have to put those ugly wheels on.

I wouldn't say they're ugly, they're just different. They don't have the same polished look that the 19's have. And by polished I don't mean the finish, I mean the design is more ruggid looking compared to the 19's.

Saw a Melbourne Red e93 at the dealer a while back that had the 18's on it and I thought that the car didn't look half as good as the e93 335i next to it with the stock 335i 19's.

I truely think they are ugly! The only reason I got them is because they are better for both winter and track use and I knew I was going for 20s for the summer setup. Its both the color/shine of the 19s, but the actual spoke design and size of the 19s is what makes it soooo much nicer. The thick tires (sidewalls) on the 18s is revolting IMO.

Perhaps you're just more of a 'Bling Bling' type of guy. No offense & nothing wrong with that.

I believe it's compulsory to play the Black eyed peas really loud from the stereo if the car is fitted with 20".

Can anyone confirm this?

WOW!, i didn't think that this thread would turn out like this!...anyways, think of it like this!

When the E46 M3 came out, Remember the options? Ugly(hideousss!) 18's and then the optional 19's which looked superb. I bet if you were to look up on the E46 forums, you'll probably find a similar thread to this. But i am going to have to be biased and say the 19's have always looked better, but then again, when you have to consider track/winter usage, the 18's will work out better.

I can almost guarantee, when the new M3 comes out some years from now, the same deal is going to happen. 18's will be hideous, and 19's will be hot!

But can someone answer this question...

Why are most of the IB M3's, especially sedans, come with 18's?...it seems like that to me.....

hmmmm....I don't know, but I just ordered mine with 18's because I preferred it that way.

Think again if you thought the 18's look hideous.

You know, while a bit of rivalry is always good fun, the only thing that matters is what "floats your boat." There is no such thing as "better" or "best."

I can't understand it, but some people actually put totally black wheels on their cars, in which case the design of the wheel is completely irrelevant.

Not adding fuel to the fire, but nuff said about the 19 inch rims with spacers and springs. These are classic M wheels:

I ordered them because I think the 19's are ugly. It's just my opinion, but I think the 18's are a sweet design.

I really like the finish up close especially on sunny days. Also I figured I might want to get a set of aftermarket 19's after the first set of tires are finished and use the 18's as winter/track wheels.

So instead of carrying out this sensible plan I order a set of RAC's before I even pick up my car!

Wife has ridiculously good taste, so at risk of being accused of being 'pussy whipped', she saw my choice (18s) at the dealer and said - pointing to an adjacent M3 E93 shod w/ 19s: 'why not those, they look better [on this car]'

NB, I specced the entire M3 w/ zero input barring this wheel specification: I listen to her because she's clever and sees things I often miss. So, 19s it was.

And I still like the 18s - and if you're tracking, then no debate.

No 100% right answer except at extremes: reflect, see both, ideally on the colour you desire, then go w/ your gut.

If I'd selected Space, no contest: have to be 18s. With Jerez, really happy w/ 19s.
