WPC Rod Bearing Wear: 15k Miles

Hello all,

I decided to swap the WPC treated bearings in my 4.4L stroker to VAC Calico as A) a preventative step and B) to see how the wear was on the WPC. I still have WPC main bearings and are very confident in them! I'll update the thread with some more pics, but here's the genera wear that was in them.. not bad!

This is roughly 15k miles.

Nice thanks for that. I just picked a 2009 and the previous owner put in OEM WPC treated bearings.

Thanks for the update. Looks like I'll be upgrading bearings in about 15-20k to avoid problems

I dunno - for 15K miles I am surprised by the scoring marks not just on one cylinder but on four cylinders. Oil particulates might do this but surely the oil filter would catch them prior to circulating from cylinder to cylinder. I wonder what deansbimmer or Green-Eggs might have to say.

I think that might qualify as "gouges" instead of just "scoring." These look like they're in pretty bad condition.

Agreed. They have seen a couple track days by the way to add.

I would assume that when building a stroker, the bearing cleaners were measured properly and recorded. Do you have that information?

Cheers,

No I don't. Have all the invoices but unfortunately not that info!

Was fun to see inside though lol. Everything looked clean and brand new.
