Did I somehow reset ECU or something else?
I've been battling some minor DCT and rough idle issues over the last few weeks, but was planning on getting it sorted next week. This morning, i washed car (pulled out of garage and let it do it's cold start sequence, turned it off). I then took it for a short drive.. I noticed all of my idle and DCT issues (jerking, clunking, etc) essentially vanished and overall the car was smooth. I didn't think much of it until I hit the M button and all of my settings were back to default.... Power button on, EDC max, etc.
Does the ecu reset itself? did I do something to trigger it? secondly, does this mean my DCT and idle issues are software related? Sorry if a dumb Question.. |

and it's driving like a bat out of hell also. Feels like a different car. Louder and quicker...
one other note, I recently switched to E-Free 93 from 93... not sure if that matters |

Letting the cold start sequence finish before driving away yields a better experience compared to driving away slowly while cold start is active. DCT here btw.

Many settings are configured per key, so using your other key would set some options to whatever that key was set for.

Ahhh... interesting.. what level of settings can be linked to a key? Any chance any engine settings a deeper than like M button settings can be linked to a key fob?

Doesn’t really sound like you did anything.
What was your car doing prior?

Did you disconnect the battery recently? I had a similar issue one time. Turns out if you leave the battery disconnected for more than 4 hours, the ECU hard resets and has to re-learn the engine. It was running wonky for 3-4 days iirc.

I did not... only changes since that day was switching key fob, as I misplaced my other one. Since using the backup key, now 3 days, the DCT issues are gone.. I don't think it's in my head, bc I drive it daily 60 Miles and it's just very smooth compared to issues (jerky, not smooth at all, etc). the fluid was checked a week or more ago, so that wasn't a change. who knows ....

Using a different key fob does not change ECU settings...
Nothing changed internally to deliver a different driving experience based on what you've written, unless the ethanol based 93 octane you were using was really that dramatically different.

Right the key just stores profile info such as seat/mirror position, EDC/Power button settings, AC setting, radio presets, etc.

Keyfob stores more than settings - it also stores throttle and transmission user adaption. Manual transmission cars miss out on this.

Yeah if this is true, which I assume it is, it's a pretty good thing to know... I'm not kidding when I say that the car drives better. something is certainly different with the DCT at least. Would love to know the specifics on why adaptation could cause this benefit for me at least...
