EDC delete - question (please help)

I’m eager to install my ohlin coil overs and don’t have a delete kit just yet. This said, I have two questions:

1.) can I just as easily install the edc delete kit after installing my coil overs as I can if I were to do it at the same time?

3.) I am not interested in the software. This said, what delete kit do you recommend?

Thanks guys!

Removing EDC connectors will cause errors. It is best to wait until you get delete kit since you don't want them coded out.

I installed the Eibach/Bilstein kit and never did any sort of EDC delete mod. You simply end up with a screen on iDrive when you first start the car that warns you to drive carefully since EDC is disabled. Is it really worth a few hundred dollars to get rid of that? The EDC errors as well as the delete kits don’t affect functionality of the vehicle in any way.

I guess what I’m really trying to understand is if adding the delete kit later is noninvasive. Or would I have to take the wheels off, etc. to add it afterwards?

The kits are mostly just emulators that plug into the connectors that are on top of the shocks. Shouldn’t need to remove wheels at all from what I can tell, but I’m not speaking from actual experience.

The edc module is located in the trunk above the battery in the shroud on the e92, the delete kit is pretty much plug and play right there and I believe you have to tap into a couple of factory wires but doesn't require splicing. I used the Macht Schnell unit but have since learned that it can be coded out too. I believe it's a bigger pain to get to on the e93 where the units under the passenger seat or something. I couldn't leave it erroring like the poster above suggested. It'd be too annoying every time you started the car IMO. I have the Ohlins coilovers too, no need to spend extra $ on their delete unit.

This literally makes zero sense. Why would you spend way more $ on a emulator when you can have it corded out effortlessly without installing more aftermarket hardware?!

Why would you willingly chose the costlier/more involved option?

Do tell.

Yes.

I had EDC and 5 or 6 other things altered...remotely.

I had EDC coded out too but error still popped up, solution to that was unplugging the module in trunk along with code for me, that was also like 6 years so it's probably easier to get right now

I live in Wilmington, NC and there are no shops here that know anything about these cars. Can I code it out myself?

If you're willing to learn, sure. Some vendors here even offer remote coding services.

I think the new Bimmergeeks app even allows you to do it via a Bluetooth adapter.
