Arma Speed Carbon Fiber Intake - Review

Hello m3post!

I thought I'd share my experience with a new intake that I recently installed. The intake is ARMA SPEED carbon fiber (gloss) intake. I used to run a AFE mated to stock air box upgrade prior to the new set up. Just thought I'd give the forum a review and thoughts about the set up.

General overview: This intake is DOPE! I love it. I was a bit on the fence about getting it because I couldn't find much about it on the forums but I decided to pull the trigger anyway. The intake came packaged very well...nice and safe. It even came with a USB drive and other authenticity items which i thought was very cool. It shows ARMA cares about their brand.

Install was very simple and straight forward. It was done with simple hand tools..nothing special needed. Take out stock air box and charge pipe. Install new carbon air box and new charge pipe. What I noticed about this intake is the size of the charge pipe is noticeably large than the AFE and much larger than stock oem pipe.

Fitment is great. Due to the enlarged charge pipe, it does take a bit of wiggle-giggle to get it on with the coupler but nothing major at all. The finish on the product is very nice. Carbon weave was seemingly perfect.

Power gains: I didn't expect much of a noticeable power gain because I already had an upgraded piece from AFE....honestly was just looking to have a really cool engine bay piece. But DAMN! I definitely felt the different immediately. The power was felt from low in the RPM range up to the top end. Made me smile! =) The sound...HOLY SH!T...roars like no other. I love the sound, feel and gains...no complains at all.

Overall, if you guys are looking for an upgrade on an intake, I'd consider ARMA SPEED's piece...looks good, performs awesome, fitment is spot on.

Let me know if you guys have any questions..I'd be happy to answer....

Now for some pics!!!

Looks great any pictures without the cover on?

Also, does it connect to the lower intake duct? It looks like it for goes the kidney scoops for a larger intake tube.

i'll get a photo with the airbox lid off...give me some time..car just went into shop for some extra custom race fabrication.

the intake doest not utilize the kidney scoops...thought i'd just get ride of that piece....weight savings!! =)

the airbox mates up to the lower duct really well...no real areas to seep in hot air

i like that it's carbon but a much smaller filter and no more flow from the kidneys seems not a desirable design.

i don't have this intake, so i'm impartial when i theorize this, but the kidney intake is probably pretty minimal when compared to the lower duct.
i also recently learned that just about any of these aftermarket filters will flow better than factory by a ridiculous margin. secondary to that, AFE will build you a custom spec./shaped filter for something like $8 more than any of their standard filters. but i get what you're saying, i'd want a larger filter on there to. 'cause why the hell not?

Would having the smaller filter allow for more air to pass through without going to the plenum? This reminds me alot of a short ram air filter..

My point is for less than $200 you can get a k&n or similar and some scoops. The original design is pretty amazing.
