There is also Millers Nanodrive Motorsport oil - reduces friction.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-73734-mi...ngine-oil.aspx Specific Gravity (at 15°C) 0.87 Kinematic Viscosity (at 100°C, cSt) 24.4 Kinematic Viscosity (at 40°C, cSt) 170.8 Viscosity Index 175 Pour Point (°C) -25 Flash Point (°C) >200 Cold Crank Viscosity (cP) 5,780 Their website does not list as being recommended for the S65 though. Does anyone actually know what the above numbers mean? And if the small differences are material or not? Cold crank viscosity is much lower with the Millers Nanodrive than all the others (Castrol, Shell, Millers CFS). |

Kinematic Viscosity (at 100°C, cSt) 24.4 Kinematic Viscosity (at 40°C, cSt) 170.8 into a viscosity curve calculator like: http://www.widman.biz/English/Calculators/Graph.html to get an idea how it compares to other oils. The additive pack is also quite important. This is one I did for used Castrol 10w60 and used M1 0W40. You can get the numbers for virgin oils from the respective websites for a closer comparison. . . |

Your wrong. 10w60 is used in the bmw 2.0 twinturbo diesel since the begining. It can also be used in the 3.0 twinturbo diesel. The only downside of it is the quick clogged intake manifold due to carbon built, but has huge advantages over engine lubrification.

I just ordered a kit with the new oil from ECS Tuning. I was going to wait until it warmed up a little here in the northeast but I've logged 10k miles since my last oil change so it's definitely overdue. I'm running TWS now. I'll post my impressions after I do the oil change this weekend. My plan is to start running M1 0W-40 during the winter months from now on.

Been running the new (shell) oil for 2,000 miles. Pretty much feels the same as the old one, maybe gets up to temp a little quicker and it seems to burn off quicker.

On a totally different note, I recently changed the oil in a relative's car - 2011 Subaru Forrester non turbo - and the oil was 0w-20. You might as well pour cooking oil in. How thin is that?

I'm just here running 0w-40 mobile 1 not worrying about when the gear lube BMW charges people astronomical money for is going to ruin my new engine. Good luck friends.

Anymore feedback on the new Shell Oil for the M3.
Have a road trip coming up and wondering if I should wait till after the trip to do oil change as I still have few bottles of the Castrol left to use.

Haven't we seen BMW branded oil in the past which in fact is Castrol. It's all about packaging. Now all the transmission, diff, and power steering will be sourced from Shell and packaged for BMW. It's will be the same oil found in the retail market but with a different die to distinguish between oem and retail. All a marketing gimmick.

However the Shell 10W60 oil is already in use by Ferrari, so by rebranding it as a BMW oil it allows them to make an adjustment to the formulation if ever required. Or maybe not - who knows. |

Why not go with liqui moly 10W-60? I ordered via Amazon prime for less than $90 for two 5 liter jugs.
BMW and shell marketing on the turbo is set for the future. We all know that going forward bmw will never go back making NA engines. I work at a BMW center and people cringe everytime they see a "turbo" labeled 10w-60. As a matter of fact all M cars with turbo only takes the Shell 5w-30. Really bad kove by BMW to have the new 10w-60 labeled "Twin power turbo" |
