Some of you folks are harsh. OP is frustrated (rightfully so), but that doesn't mean you all should go bashing him and calling him names. If any of you were without your car for 3 months, you'd probably be livid too.
@OP - sorry to about your trouble. It does sound like BMW is taking care of you. Hang in there. |

"for BMW to back up the top quality vehicles that they ensured me they are they make"
So you should get a new engine, not pay for the warranty, get a new loaner and get a check? I don't think so. You paid for the extended warranty because you knew these cars were not immune to issues, like all complex mechanical items. you were smart to buy the warranty and got 5 times the cost back in repairs and still have the warranty! Stop complaining, most cars break, some more than others.

You should know that's not how warranties work at all. This would be no different than me going to my insurance company saying that I should be reimbursed everything I've paid them in the past 5 years because I haven't been in an accident. This is what happens when you own a high strung car (German, Italian, English....). If you can't accept that, you should really consider driving a Toyota like you mentioned. Sorry to sound harsh, but your outcome is about as good as anyone here with a bad motor could have hoped for.

Hi OP,
I think you got a rough deal and I think BMW did not handle it well. I'm not talking about the final outcome, which seems fine. I'm talking about the entire experience getting there. I'd be super pissed if my car has had so many issues in its first couple of years. In fact, I'd have traded it in and cut my losses. I would've still gone for a BMW though . In any case, it seems you got a lemon and BMW should have admitted so and taken responsibility. My first fancy car was a BMW 550i I bought 4yr old with 45K miles. The day I drove off with it, the BT/Phone module blew up, impacting the car's audio system - a $4K repair. Thankfully, the car still had the new warranty so no cost to me. Did that stop me from enjoying my 550? No. Did I ever try to pair my phone again? Hell no! I still went on to buy my E92 m3 though (almost went for an m235i - blasphemy, i know) And no, I don't think a quart of oil every 500m is normal. Not unless you track it daily. That alone would've tipped me over the line. If you haven't accepted the $1500, why don't you write up a detailed and fair(and polite) assessment of what you believe a fair compensation should be and send it to BMWNA? I'd try to do that after they complete the engine replacement though If I were you, I'd also try to get them to put me in a new m4 or make a deal for the upcoming m2. Please do keep us posted with the outcome of this. |
