People like the comp package because of the wheels. Avg to good driver will not be able to tell the difference anywhere.
I'm at the track most weekends. I see both ZCP and Non ZCP. You would need to have the exact specs for both cars to notice a difference (same fuel level, tire tread, driver weight etc) and even then it would be negligible. My friend runs a stock 2009 E90 M3. Is routinely 2-3 seconds quicker than another guy we always see at the track. He runs an stock E92 ZCP. I guess what I'm saying is that unless you can extract the potential out of an E9x M3 to begin with, it wont make a difference if you have ZCP or not. Nowadays it makes more of a difference due to the power bumps provided by the package. |

Reduced ground clearance (0.6 inches) of ZHP option was the reason I elected not to include when I ordered my M3 back in 2013. It's a consideration for a daily driver.
Even with the higher ride height, I still wiped out two sets of felt belly pans in 30,000 miles. Then I installed an aluminum aftermarket job from Alex and it has held up well for 70,000 miles.

Regarding the wheels, my winter set is the stock 19s. When I put them on I joke with my friends that I am going to look like a 335i for a few months. Even though they are stock M3 wheels, going from ZCP/GTS wheels the look change is drastic.

one year later... I am looking for an E90, those with ZCP and manual are getting super expensive, around $50K with less than 50K miles. The F80 M3 CS is selling around $70K.
My question is can you tune The EDC to get the same performance than the ZCP?, With the F80 you can do it but not sure about the E90. If I can not get an E90 with ZCP manual and no idrive I was thinking in buy a normal E90 M3 and built it myself.

Just get the cleanest lowest mileage example you can afford, zcp or not. |

ZCP suspension has hardware and software changes. You can code the software changes on a regular EDC car, but the ZCP still has different springs and shocks. Add something like ZCP, Dinan, or Eibach springs and you'd be 90% there.
ZCP cars are cool (biased) but unless you're keeping it stock or preserving a low mileage example, it's not worth a big premium. |

Thanks all for your input, the E9x is a bit unknown for me, despite of having an E46M3, F80 and F87 in the past.
Let see If I can find a good E90 example in Miami, so far I found garage queens E90 or E90 with more than 100,000 miles
