speaking of safety equipment, does anyone know where i could go to test fit a few devices like the simpson hybrid? i have a larger upper body, but i'm kinda slim at the same time. i already know that i'm going to fit weird into some devices.

m3 and 335 trunks are the same, right? i found a painted trunk for sale and the seller said it was about 50 lbs. all other sources i've seen have said 30 lbs. i'm not sure if he's estimating or what.

Simpson have retail stores where you can try on their gear. In So Cal go to:
Simpson World West
1405 West 240th Street
Harbor City, CA 90710

They also have stores in New Braunfels TX, Indianapolis IN and Mooresville NC.
PM me for further help. Thank you.

Getting my alignment done tomorrow. I just picked up a new set of street tires so want to get this right. 255/275 S-04's on the street, 275/295 NT-05's (140 treadwear version, think NT-01) on the track. My alignment guy offered to give me a marked system that I can adjust before/after track weekends or set and forget. ~8 track days per year (usually 2 days in a row).

Tracks:
MSR-H
MSR-C
COTA

I am leaning set and forget and the following as a street/track compromise alignment:
-2.3F
-1.6R
1/16" toe-in F (total on axle)
1/16" toe-IN R (total on axle)

Thoughts/comments/suggestions welcome.

While I haven't personally been to those tracks, the M3 was a dual duty car (track + street) and I didn't want to mess around with constantly adjusting. I have found that
-2.6 degrees Front / -2.0 degrees rear camber.
1/32" toe in Front
1/16" toe in Rear

Worked well in my situation. Just my 2 cents. Now that I have a daily driver, I will be getting more aggressive with the alignment in the interest of tire preservation.

My dd is -3.5F -2.0R. Zero toe front. 1/16/8? in the rear.

Set it and forget it for the track.

Just flip and rotate your daily tires well. They'll last long.

Thanks, I really appreciate the input and it sounds like we're in the same ball park. I'm going more conservative this round with DD use in mind but may step it up next time.

Sweet! If everything works out ok, I'll be driving up early Thursday and staying at the quail lodge through Saturday.

Not sure how much of a hurry you are in but BMWCCA SD is having a Safety Gear Tech session at Winding Road Racing on 9/24. I'm not sure if they are offering any discounts but I do know that Winding Road gives 10% for NASA members.

So this is the first time I've trusted someone else to install parts on my car but I'm using someone Ortho recommended so I feel pretty good about it.

Going in today: Vorshlag Camber Plates, Bimmerworld Group-N-style engine mounts, Rogue Front Tension Arm Bushings (street), PFC08 OEM Rear pads, Castrol SRF brake fluid flush, alignment. Can't wait to get my car back and test the new setup on the track in September!

That's a lot of stuff!

I'm heading over to MRF for solid subframe/diff bushings and vibra technics motor mounts.

Nice! Curious to hear your thoughts after. Which diff bushings? Since I am optimizing my car for dual duty still I am leaning powerflex purple (DCT) but would still go solid subframe mounts.
