E90m3 DCT GAUGE CLUSTER
Hey team - I’ve heard conflicting feedback on whether or not you MUST retain the OEM gauge cluster on an m3 DCT car to keep the car driveable.
A shop has told me that the CANBUS on DCT cars runs through the dash and removing it will render the car unfunctional. I’ve heard the other side as well.
The car is a dedicated race car, completely gutted and partially thinned harness. I’m looking to move my AIM MXS into the own location. |

yeah sadly with out going full standalone with its own dedicated canbus you'd need to keep it on the car somewhere.
there's a guy in japan who fully gutted and removed everything dash trim and all, and he literally just has the gauge cluster dials only LOL.

Appreciate that - I think that’s what I’d be looking to do. Pull the gauge cluster out of the dash area, secure it behind / under the dash, and put my aim in its place using this

I think there’s a cluster shroud that can go over the oem cluster to house the aim dash. Look at the schirmer cars some have the AIM dash in the oem location and I believe the oem cluster is behind it. I was planning to do the same thing as I wanted to have more information without having to install gauges. I’ll see if I can find the cluster shroud. I’ll update if I find it.
Also aim has harnesses now for can bus integration. Update: cluster insert |

This looks great - identical to the link I think is shared but will work with MXS.

If they had it for the MXS I’d drop in for sure - but looks like MXG only.
I’ll give the Race Display one a go and leave an review of it here. |
