Is spring compressor needed for ZCP suspension removal?

Anybody know if a spring compressor is needed to take out front oem zcp suspension or will it clear the fender without one? Many thanks!

Are you just removing the entire strut? If you aren't loosening the central nut at the top of the strut you don't need a compressor. To remove the strut the bolts/nuts on the edges need to be loosened to free the strut from the upper mount. One would need to have the strut removed in order to get a spring compressor on the strut if you are trying to replace the springs.

You do not need a spring compressor to remove the shock and strut as one unit. You can probably find a yt about it but it will swing out for removal, just barely. Many people put some tape on the fender just in case to avoid a scratch.

You can actually use the weight of the car as a spring compressor if you know what you are doing.

Mine isn't a ZCP, but I'd guess it's a pretty similar process?

This.

The E9x and F8x are probably the easiest cars I've ever done lowering springs on. With the wheels off, I can probably swap the springs on each side in 5 minutes.

Agree. It was much easier than I anticipated too
