Multiple pad swap resulting in unbearable noise...

OEM calipers/rotors/brake pads were run for 15k miles... then had a track day so I put on brand new PFC 08 pads. After the track day I put on new PFC Z-Rated and now I have unbearable squealing when lightly braking. Bedded the pads multiple times and have driven around -300 miles on them so far and the noise never seems to get any better.

At this point have I mixed too many pads and should I just get new rotors?

maybe put the pfc08 back on and drive around the street for a week. Read that will scrape the rotors. I also just did a hard stop from like 75 to 10 and it stopped squeaking...

I've typically run the 08s on the street for a few days following a track day to scrape off transfer layer and accumulated deposits before swapping street pads back on. (I typically also run the 08s for a few days before the track day.)
This strategy has been successful in avoiding any problems with both OEM street pads and Z-rated pads.

is the noise coming from the front or rear? i think i have sort of given up on trying to get the rear brakes quiet. it must be very difficult to get them hot enough to bed-in on the street.

It's just the front, I tracked on 08 fronts and Z-Rated rears. The rear rotor looks to have uniform pad transfer, the front is not even.

Put the 08's back on, guess I have an excuse to do a mountain run tomorrow.

How are you guys running these on the streets for multiple days? maybe its just me but they are by far the loudest track pads I've ever used.

Running them on a street involves wearing a paper bag over your head because the howling is embarrassing and completely not subtle.

I was coming to a stop at a red light and a car entering the intersection (who had the green) slammed on the brakes because she thought the screeching sound was a car barreling into the intersection.

But the setup works so well on track that it's worth the hassle.

Well... I haven't tried to put the pads on but I did run the 08's all day in the mountains and with a paper bag over my head in heavy traffic.

Unfortunately hit a turkey and shattered my left headlight so it's going to be an expensive repair.

Just hoping it was all worth it once I put the Z's back on.

Whenever changing pad materials you should clean the rotors to get the bedded material off, this allows for a fresh surface for the new pads to bed to. This is what you'll want to clean the rotors.https://www.amazon.com/Flex-Hone-RMF...words=flexhone

Is just the medium grit needed or is it best to run coarse, medium, and fine?

I run that same combo (08's on track, Z-rated on street) on stock calipers. I do get occasional squeal with the Z-rated but just once in a while. I picked this combo assuming that the two compounds should be somewhat compatible since they are from the same manufacturer. I leave my track pads on anywhere from a day to a week depending on how lazy I am and how soon my next event is.

I'm not sure. My guess it that it will depend on how much material you need to remove and the difference between the pad compounds. I would start with medium and see how that works, then go coarser if necessary.

For example, if you are going from an aggressive metallic race compound to a mild organic street compound, you might need coarse.
