QUICK QUESTION GUYS! About to pick up a poverty spec M3, do I really lose Sport Plus?
Just sold my SG E92 M3 and about to pick up a 2013 AW E92 DCT poverty spec within the next day or two, speed cloth, no iDrive, no heated seats, no comfort access, manual seats ect. basically a stripper. Just how I like em.
I was pretty excited until I've been reading a little more into it, do you REALLY lose the ability to set the car throttle to Sport Plus without iDrive? I did a search and I'm getting conflicting answers. Some say you can't even set the car to Sport Plus throttle without iDrive, is that true? Or is it only true for the earlier model cars. I would hate to think BMW would remove that ability just because it doesn't have iDrive. I mean I don't care about leather, power seats, heated seats ect. but if I'm losing a key performance setting, I might have to rethink everything... Please help! |

I think that's accurate. But your foot is sport plus push it farther the car goes faster. Dont need artificial feel especially at track.

Sport Plus is complete trash, I never drive with it on ever. Use your foot!
A long time ago in the E46 M3 community, someone once asked how often people drive with that button engaged and I was so happy when most of the responses were NEVER. What's really hilarious is some people thought the engine was "de-tuned" if that button was turned off. They thought you HAD to have it on to get the full 333horses.

Its ok for when you are going WOT on the freeway, but for anything else its way to twitchy , and takes away from your ability to modulate throttle...

I'm with you, though maybe in the minority. I understand its just throttle input remapping but the default setting is awful, I feel like I have to floor the shit out of the car to get it to move at all from a stop. Sport plus is permanently on for me. Maybe I'm just used to a car with torque.

Agreed with the above posters. My M-Drive settings change only the EDC and traction control settings, a car should be good to go out of the box as a proper sports car, otherwise
Unfortunately I have nothing to add in terms of answering your question, lol.

Sport+ throttle is like an on / off switch, its terrible. Sport is a decent medium but still too sensitive in the wet. The main reason I would consider getting a tune is for a more linear throttle map. I think all cars come as standard with a power button though so you should be fine.

I can't drive it without sport mode on - I find the standard response sluggish. But that's just an opinion.

This car's rarity makes it special. The concept of a $60,000 stripped down M3 was of interest to only a few buyers of these cars when new.
The M3's track performance is controllable thanks to the linear increase in torque. The more responsive throttle invites "turbo boost" power band, something criticized by our generation of N/A M3 owners. And I wonder about added wear to the T/A's with constant use of the jazzed up throttle response. Over heat the motors?

I think the issue lies with people getting used to the response with it on so it's their new norm. They adjust to modulating the throttle with it 'on' and feel they can't go back, or it's "sluggish".
All the more reason why I keep it off. My right foot can dial in as much response (and "torque" as an earlier post mentions) as that button can. |

Fair enough. I hope it doesn’t detract you from the car. Like others said, the full stripper spec is really desirable. Even the cloth seats are super rare! Considering it’s a 2013, I would be all over it. You can always get used to the “sport” setting.

Thanks guys, yeah I'm definitely getting it. I was just a little bummed that it's missing a setting that I used a lot with my previous E92 M3.
Oh well, I'll post some pics once I get this bad boy. |

Maybe noob here, but my 2011 E90 stripper has sport plus and no idrive. ZCP though, so maybe that’s why? Sorry, wasn’t a priority so haven’t really paid attention to all the possible optioning.

So you're positive you can enable Sport Plus and not just Sport? This is the conflicting info I'm getting, some people including the owner of the car says you can access Sport Plus without the iDrive, then some say you can't. Argggghhh.. not a huge deal but I wished I could get a definite answer lol. |
