6MT Clutch Peddle - PressureSpring Fell Out
driving back from the gym. put it in 1st in the parking lot driving along put my foot down to engage 2nd and i hear a quiet crunch.
lift my foot up and push the clutch up and down a few times until this spring popped out from under the clutch peddle. drove straight to the dealer and they told me they would take care of it first thing in the morning when they got the part from their warehouse. love the m3 but wish every component was built super solid like a porsche, a proper car

Weird lol...does a clutch/flywheel job even require taking that spring off?

Never heard of the clutch pedal getting stuck in the middle, but just read your other thread, and had to edit my post. Dealer obviously messed with your clutch pedal for some reason; maybe they replaced the master cylinder as well. And the tech didn't attach the spring correctly. It's an ultra minor thing compared to the new clutch. By the way, how many miles on your clutch before it gave out? And did you buy the car new? Just curious. Good luck.

That's the spring that is supposed to make it easier to push the pedal. Some people take it out. I did in my 08 and liked the difference. But when I tried in my 11 I didn't so I put it back in. Not a big deal. Very odd it fell out or broke.

Doesn't look like anything actually "broke". I'm guessing one of the pins (part #22) fell out. These pins hold that spring assembly in place. The e-clips (part #23) are supposed to prevent those pins from sliding out. It's possible that one of those clips lost their grip on the pin and popped off first.
I know from experience that pulling and placing those clips can bend them loose. One did fall off on me some time after I replaced my 08 clutch spring with the more recent version. I used a pair of pliers to bend it tight again. |

How is the M not a proper car? Just wondering, I'm a bit confused.

That could have only happened by being installed incorrectly.
I changed that spring on my car from the early style one to the later style one. It was extremely difficult to pop the eclips off to allow that spring housing to slide out. Somehow the clip must have come off of yours... That's crazy.. Why did you need a new clutch at 33K miles? I'm at 34K now and it feels good as new.

Most likely the pedal got stuck on the floor when bleeding the clutch. This happens more than not. Pulling the pedal up off the floor several times can break the plastic part of the spring assy. It can be slapped back together after it's broken, but will come apart again.
