Carbon Fiber / Clear Coat Roof Repair Help Needed
Does anyone know of a shop that has expertise with removing and re-applying the clear coat from a carbon fiber roof? I've talked with a least a dozen auto body shops and none of them are willing to do it. The only one I found was in San Diego and I really don't want to have to ship the car to get this done. I'm in Portland, but I'm willing to travel anywhere in the PNW or even N. Cal if I need to. Thanks

I'm moving forward with a roof repair on my E92 M3 with Haury's in Seattle. It's more expensive then quotes I've seen on the forums from Cali. I think that the shops in Cali have a lot of experience with this repair since it effects cars that see a lot of sun. If you want a quality job and are ok paying a premium I'd recommend Haury's. If you are more price sensitive I would start calling shops in NorCal as that will be the best bet.

Queen City in Redmond, WA is regarded by many as the best body shop in the Seattle area. A few months ago in a local facebook group, someone mentioned they went there for a carbon roof refinish on a f80 and it came out great. Knowing their reputation, if I ever need my roof refinished, that's probably where I'd go. Be warned, I've heard the wait to get an appointment is usually long, but its worth it if you want it done right.
The key with any shop you pick is making sure the shop has experience refinishing carbon fiber. You don't want your car to be the one they learn on. |
