Rear wheel stuck on hub!!
Fortunately, I got it off. I put the wheel bolts back in, a couple turns each. Then, I lay down on my side and scissor kicked the inside sidewall of the tire with the heel of my boot. Took a few tries, too.
Should there be antiseize on the hubs, or something? Last edited by Drifty//; 05-22-2012 at 01:27 AM.. |

Given your foresight and wisdom in using the wheel bolts to make sure the wheel didn't fall on the ground, we will assume that jackstands were used to make sure the car didn't fall and crush whatever parts of you were under it.
It definitely can take a bit of brute force to get a wheel loose sometimes. Some like to use a heavy rubber mallet. Others, like yourself, prefer to put the boots to it. Anti-seize is a good thing, but on the hubs only. Don't let it get anywhere near your bolts.

Yup. BTDT.
2x4 on back with Harbor Frieght 2 1/2 lb dead blow hammer ftw. +1 on anti seize on the hub landings.

lol. My rear hubs have quite a bit of rust in them. I haven't had an issue but I do use quality lubro moly anti-seize on the hub face.
