Unsold year old E90, possibly sketchy or just being paranoid?

Have negotiated a deal for 2011 E90, untitled and warranty not punched, but the car was manufactured 11/10. I can't imagine this car sitting on a dealer's lot that long. What has me concerned is that this dealer has many negative reviews on the internet. The price sheet they sent me also had Phantom Footprint, an inventory tax and they want to charge $179 for doc fee, which is ridiculous. I'm sure I could negotiate the unwanted charges, but their poor reputation bugs me and I'm not desperate to get a car. Although there are very few new E90's left, there are a few left in the state that have more options, but may be more recently produced and thus less suspect.
Anyone think this is sketchy or am I just being paranoid?

what are the specs? is it some hideous color combo? E90 M3's are in demand and they usually don't sit around too long. I am a believer of if it's too good to be true then it usually is. Any miles on the car?
What kind of bad things are people saying about the dealer? These cars are expensive, if it doesn't feel right, I'd walk.

I just looked up "sketchy" at www.dictionary.com and there is a link there in the example section that matches the M3 you are describing.

It is probably one of those situations where they'll sell you the car for $10K under invoice but you have to get rid of the body and not ask too many questions.

Let us know the specs, what packages does it have? Exterior/Interior colours? How many miles? Was it a dealer demo? Maybe because the dealer is sketchy no enthusiast wanted to buy the car and such it is just sitting there. Run a carfax on it, doesn't always contain the full information but just in case something's there you'll get your answer.

Hopefully it's good to go and you can pick it up!

- There was a Java Green M3 sitting here at the dealership took almost 9 months to shift but that was probably because of the colour, then again there's another space grey one too that's been there since I brought my car in June nothing wrong with it but nobody wants to pay the stealership premium for the splitters, spoiler and perf. exhaust.

It's Jet Black/Silver Novillo. Has 67 miles on it. DCT, 19" wheels, Assist and Sat. The car was PDI'd in January, unless they don't even allow test drives, you'd think it would have more miles than that in 10 months. I don't know if this dealership has had it the whole time, I haven't asked.
Carfax and autocheck show no record. He emailed me a copy of a document that showed a date when it was wholesaled, that the warranty had not started and listed QCI Spot Deliver under "Repair History (Claims)". From what understand, that is the PDI.

My car sat on the lot for 18 months before I found it. Nobody wants a low-options M3 with a transmission you have to shift yourself, apparently.

Nearly 30k miles on it and I can account for all but 262 of them, and running better than new. Look at the car with a critical eye, get under it, have somebody else look at it, and don't take their word for it. Look at tire condition, take a tread depth gauge, and so on, and do your own research on the car rather than trusting somebody else and you'll be happy you did.

67 miles? I guess I don't understand the concern. That's a brand new car, man. Buy it, if the price is right.

Manufactured date would not bother me all. There could be several reasons why the car has sat so long, but you'll probably never know for sure. I assume the car is not local? If so, perhaps another forum member who is local to the dealership can go and take a look at it. From what you've described though, sounds fine.

The car is 180 miles from me. I posted on the regional board to see if anyone has seen the car, it's at Momentum.

My wife's old 330 sat on the lot for almost a year because it had every option on it. It had 38 miles on it when we bought it and it gave us 72k trouble-free miles (recently sold it). As long as you look the car over (get it inspected like someone's already suggested), at 67 miles it's still a new car even if its production date was a year ago. Good luck!

Why get a car with 67 miles inspected? That's brand new, and it will have a full warranty. Unless there's something I'm missing with this story.

OP is concerned about the dealer's reputation and why no one has purchased this e90 M3 that's been sitting on their lot for a year. If getting it inspected alleviates any of the OP's concerns then I see no harm even if it's a brand new car.

I guess I don't understand the concern with the dealers rep. He never has to take it back there for service and it will have a full warranty.

maybe it was damaged at the port? or during shipment?

i don't think they have to report it as long as it's fixed prior to delivery

go buy it...

if it is at a BMW dealership then BMW NA is behind the warranty. You have nothing to worry about. Are you going to finance it? just make sure you go via BMW. If you find anything out later on you can walk away.

my 2cents.
