B7 RS4 values increasing
I was browsing KBB and NADA for different cars and noticed that the B7 RS4 is going up in value. I owned a black 07 in 2011 and had it for a year. I wasn't tooo crazy about it. It felt heavy and it was boring and didn't seem as fast as critics declared (yes carbon cleaning was done). Anyway, I put the mileage of both my M and the RS4 same year and the RS4 is worth about $5k more. Was there that much less rs4's production wise?! Even doing a basic search, people are asking $42k for a car with 60k miles, $26k for a car with 110k miles. I was not impressed at all with it.

Cult following with no successor in the US. That’s a good recipe for strong resale. I don’t know production figures but they seem quite a bit rarer than than an e9xM as well.

Yes, A LOT less RS4's made it to the US
only 2 years of production for US cars i briefly considered it but it was really like looking for a needle in a haystack

Actually saw one on the road last week and it might've been the first time I saw one in the wild. Definitely a cool car, I don't think the premium is due to it being a better car than the M, most likely due to the rarity.

Also V8 and 6MT in a handsome luxury sedan. Very hard to come by these days, especially if you want AWD.

Strange they never released the subsequent RS4 models in the US, I guess they felt sales numbers wouldn't be there. RS4 avant is the perfect all weather doge wagon.

V8 6MT AWD [And not a WRX - which is a turbo 4 anyways] I heavily considered one and still consider one at times. Just don't come around that much. Never got to drive one so can't say much else. Wish it was a bit faster though - that's been the biggest deterrent for me. So much potential but seems a lot slower than our M3.

No one's spending a premium on an RS4 to thrash one, particularly by adding FI. Not only is this particular RS4 rare, in general, we only ever got the B7 version of the RS4. I would guess that RS5 values are not the same as the RS4, as a result.

I'd actually be interested to see how popular supercharger kits are in the RS4 world. I'm sure they're not as common as supercharged M3s, but if nobody was doing it they wouldn't still be making the kits in the first place. If I bought an RS4, which I seriously considered prior to buying my M3, I would strongly consider supercharging it just as I have with my M3. The cost to get into an RS4 is in the same ballpark as an M3 and the supercharger kits cost about the same as well from what I've seen. Rarity wouldn't stop me from modding the car to my liking in this case.

https://www.goapr.com/products/stage3plus_b7_rs4.html JHM also has a kit that runs similar times, though it's a Vortech setup: https://jhmotorsports.com/jhm-superc...4-stage-1.html

So what. How often do you think you're going to be able to do that before some part of the drive train fails. Just like guys come on and say the Lexus IS-F can handle tons of power. So what. Pop the hood and just look where the engine is on that RS4 versus the front axle. Big front heavy pig. |

I'm not claiming you can abuse the car like that indefinitely, I'm just replying to the question about supercharging the RS4 motor. I doubt people are going to be taking it to the drag strip and dumping the clutch like that all the time anyway. Those kits have been out for years but I don't follow the Audi scene anymore. Would be interesting to check in on Audizine and see how many guys are racking up the miles on S/C RS4s.

Possibly, but I'm fairly confident he set the reserve in the mid 50's, so unless something crazy happens I'm not expecting it to sell.

I personally have always liked the rs4 partly due to its rarity. Have never had the opportunity to drive one and I guess based on feedback here and from others after the e92 it will be meh.
This said the sound is sweet and these samples come from a special time in the German engineering. Now it's all turbos. Couple years and they'll come back. |
