All vin locations?

So far, i know there is a vin on the sticker in the drivers side door jamb, in the windshield, trunk behind the license plate, and on the strut tower under the hood. Anyone else know where others are? I remember the e36 would have a vin on pretty much every body panel.

There should be one stamped into the chassis in the engine bay, I don't recall exactly where, but should be around the strut tower.

So the one stamped in the trunk's rear plate area, is that akin to a tramp stamp?

My 2013 has a VIN sticker on every body panel like the e36s used to do but my 2011 does not. Did they start doing this in 2013 model year again?

Some dealerships provide a "security package" where they etch or label each panel. I've not seen any E9x M3's with full panel identification like you describe as in the old days. The VIN is etched into the unibody at the passenger strut tower, the left front at the dash panel, and the driver door has a sticker. No body panels are factory VIN labeled that I've ever seen.

I'll post some pics tomorrow......
There's a break-away, factory VIN sticker on fenders, trunk, hood and doors.
Must be the security package.
I'll check my order build sheet.

The only code remotely hinting at this on VIN decoder is called "Dispatch Protection Pack" code S925. Ring a bell?
Pics coming later this week. Car is in shop for DCT oil leaks....

It's not a Factory option you'll find in the decoder. I said Dealerships offer it as an add on package, next to $500 carpet mats, $900 rust protection, and $400 fingerprint proof wax.

Thanks. Got it. Will get pics up next week. Must be rare dealer option if most have never seen this before. The car was sold new out of BMW of Beverly Hills, CA so they must of added this option.
thanks!

See pics attached.
Two different numbers on two different tags that do not match the VIN.
The doors, hood, trunk all have two tags each with two different numbers. The fenders only have one tag each with one of number.

The tags says the following:

Warning: Traceable
Invisible Phantom Footprint
Made for Vehicle Security by 3M
Warning - Permanently marked even if tape is removed
IAS A05077378
and another different number sequence on the other tags when they are applied as pairs on the hood, trunk and doors. Only the fenders have one tag.

As expected, those are dealership applied. Not OEM. The numbers correlate to the VIN in the dealers database. Not a very useful or practical system.

I agree. I wonder who would pay for something like this at time of delivery? Seems worthless to me but interesting to know it's not very common....
