Got a gut punch when I dropped off my M3 for a washer fluid leak.

Now I've hit all the tabs on the punch card for maintenance now. RB, TBA, DCT reseal, and finally the seals.

I think I didn't buy a well cared for M3, but hopefully it's good now. I've beyond mechanically totaled the car for sure.

Got this delivered right before I had to leave for Calgary today. Thanks to IND for the great deal and help getting this. Gonna have to wait a while though, driveway repair needs to happen first. Sorry to tease 🙃

This may be a challenge to get to work with the mporium under tray.

I highly recommend Sliplo scrape guard...worth every penny to protect your CF front lip...I got it for mine...paired with Mporium Under tray...night and day!! saved it from steep driveways 2x when visiting friends and family. Even when I was turning into driveway at an angle slowly.

They cannot re-use the current valve covers? I know the paint flakes off, etc, but that seems wildly high. Should be able to take $2k off that alone. I'm surprised they would be bad at 80k miles

They could, but then they couldn't charge him this crazy price. The front brake replacement is also a rip off. You can get all four corners from FCP for around the same price and change them yourself.

Chances are the rotors are fine as well. Probably only need pads.

Yeah, this valve cover replacement is a little odd to me. I do want to get to where I can do the brakes myself, especially for track days.

Most ppl will just have their stock valve covers sand blasted and powdercoated to solve the flaking issue. Just make sure not to have the underside powdercoated. Leave it bare.

The tech report mentioned corrosion, I imagine that would be taken care of during a sand blast too?

Got any pictures of the lip where the mporium undertray and lip meet up? My main concern is how the undertray distorts the bumper cover. Thanks for the tip on the sliplo

Had to code my chinese tailights.

They had this strange behavior:

On NCSEXPERT, I found this code on FRM2:

pwm_blk_h (something about pwm on the turn indicator lights)

[ ] wert_01

[ ] wert_02

[ ] wert_03

[ ] wert_04

[ ] wert_05

[ ] wert_06

[ ] wert_07

Each option had a description about the voltage it would send. It had 11.7V, 12.2V, 13.0V, 13.5V, 13.7V, and wert_06 said no voltage, but a percentage: 100%.

It was originaly in 13.7V.

I tried 12.2V and 13.0V. All resulted in different blinking speed, but still strangely.

When I tried wert_06 (100%), problem was solved. Blinking correctly.

I'd still prefer it not to blink progressively, but I guess that would need to modify the tailight itself.

My car is september-2007 production date.

Sorry, I don't have any current one...I did however shared pictures when I had my car on the lift when we installed the under tray at the same time as my CF front diffuser....however...its buried in the past of this thread....soooooo it would be a lot of scrolling backward...lol....and my pictures are mixed with the others clouds storage is sitting at over 70,000 plus....Keep in mind...your front diffuser may be a little different in mounting point in terms of space needed underneath the front bumper compared to my designed., Also, I went back to OEM CF front splitters. Goodluck with your install

Noted. It looks like the RKP I have uses the stock mounting holes already in the bumper cover. The placement isn't perfectly symmetrical which I always found a little odd. I was thinking about adding a spacer between the undertray and bumper cover to maintain the curve and keep from bending the lip.

Had this discussion with Malek @ MRF Engineering, apparently, it's hit or miss when just changing out the gaskets as the magnesium covers tend to warp a bit as they age. He said most of the time changing out the gasket should fix the leak/seepage in the short term but it usually always comes back with a vengeance. Since it's a relatively expensive job labor wise he recommends changing out to new valve covers just to be sure.

Took care of some cosmetic issues.

Swapped out the faded stock chrome M3 emblem to gloss black and replaced the peeling steering wheel trim. Good as new.

Don't sand blast, media blast or soda blast carefully. It's magnesium and you can eat holes in the material very easily

I wish. Would have bought them ages ago. Stupid decision to use Mg for valve covers.
