Anyone have experience with the AD09s?

Trying to decide on my next track tires, torn between A052 and AD09.
Looking for something close to the the origianl RE71R. I've heard feedbacks from some that the 71-RS apparently aren't as good.

Neither of these tires are available in the USA yet, so I suspect you won't get many replies.

The regular RE-71R was recently discontinued here and supposedly the RE-71RS won't be sold here. I've seen nothing about the AD-09 being sold here either...Yokohama seems content to keep selling the A052.

It's disappointing as the demand here is probably quite healthy and having more tires in this category would certainly be welcomed. The 71 is an old tire but still pretty good, and the AD-08 was certainly a capable tire in its day too.

I'd like to see a comparison of the AD09 vs the A052. I ran the AD08 and AD08R for a long time until the A052 came out.

The A052 has a lot more grip but the AD08R was much more consistent. It could handle heat better and lasted longer in terms of tire wear. A set of AD08R would last me 10-15k miles and multiple track days a set. A052 got greasy fast on track and can't take many track days.

If they could improve the grip of the AD09 while maintaining the durability characteristics, it would be a good track day tire you can still street.

Yokohama appears to be firmly segmenting these tires. AD09 is not going to be an autocross/time attack tire used for setting ultra-fast lap times, that's what the A052 is for. The AD09 will be a very high performance street tire with some track durability...sorta like an RS4.

My two cents.

There is such a huge market here for 200tw track/dot tires, i'm surprised they wouldn't be bringing their new tires here and would just leave a hole in the market. I was waiting for these new models to arrive.

Guess it might be a supply issue.

Companies do stupid shit all the time. Just look at how there's been huge demand for RS4s for years, and Hankook just keeps going "sorry we're out of stock". Like...ramp up production FFS.

My friend works for a tire wholesaler. He says they'll sell 100 sets of normal tires for every 1 set of performance tires.

The tires are made overseas and shipping is expensive for these low margin products. They don't even stock some tire model lines because they don't make money on it. Tires that are in stock and don't sell get steep discounts because tires go bad so they need to move it. Next time they just don't buy them anymore.
