Longer cranks.

Started my m3 today for the first time in a few days. And noticed it cranked for longer. And also heard a squeak/ crunch noise once it started.

I assume it’s probably ignition coils, since I just replaced the spark plugs. And maybe the belt tensioner / idler pulley causing squeak?

Sometimes while idling I’ll hear the motor making a clicking sound, then goes away, and then comes back again. Is this normal ? It sounds spark related for sure.

I’m already regretting not doing my ignition coils when I replaced the plugs!!

How is the groundstrap from the pan to rail on the drivers side? Give it a tug. Mine broke in 2.

which ground strap are you referring to?

It’s under the car from oil pan to frame rail?

Yes, worth a quick check. Caused a slow crank for me, especially on hot start.

I have the exact same issue. It always take longer to crank up after a whole night or long weekends. But hot start is fine. I got my battery replace, but still the same so far.

Fuel pressure regulator vs leaky fuel injector?
I have similar issue, longer cranks on cold start with intermittent hesitation, then does fine. No issues with hot start. Battery is 4 yrs old. I feel this is fuel related!
Pros... please comment!

come to think about it since you mentioned fuel. I think it mostly began around summer blend started.

You might be on to something... but this issue didn't happen last summer!
Guess if it doesn't get worse, we'll wait for winter... it's never too far...Lol

Update* *

I finally got a fault code for prolonged cold starts. Not sure if it’s the cause.

But ISTA is telling me I have a faulty pressure sensor on the intake manifold.

I didn’t know this could cause longer starts. But I guess it does make sense.
