Maxxis is having a sale. 20% off with code SUMMER2017.

Have yet to drive on these tires, but bought a set that have been sitting in my garage a few months now. May need to pick up another set at those prices.

What I don't like about the maxxis is they have the tread of a dot slick yet don't grip more than a nt01.

To me that means no driving them to the track

No road driving for me. Nittos have never served me well in the rain, irregardless of whether they have tread or not.

I really like how the nittos respond when you slide them, I hear the maxxis don't respond the same way.

they'll have more grip generally on colder days while nt01s will be better during hot temps. you do have to drive a cleaner line though without sliding around. i may have to reup on them. R1S lasted me 7 heat cycles - so it was pretty much like crack. lol

when i ran nt01s, the tread would be done in one to / from track drive.

He's claiming they're heat cycled out because I beat him at ACS. #cyberbully

I got 19 HC out of my first set of R1S, but their grip past 8 HC was not the same as the first 8.

I only got 8 HC out of my 2nd set, but it was hotter, and I was lazy so I didn't rotate my tires, and guess what, outside edge of one of my tires corded, so I have a set of 3 R1S with 8 HC.

Only 8HC? That seems very low. It also depends on the weight of the car I hear. Did you do any weight reduction?
I am thinking about BFGR1S for my next track setup, but it will be tough to through them out after one weekend.

If you are maniacal about rotating them I think you'll be fine. I only got 8 HC because I was using them on my full optioned M4 with zero weight reduction. I got 19 out of my E92 with weight reduction, because I was methodical about rotating them every 2 HC - also, it was slightly cooler. Now it's just a furnace in California.

I am running staggered set up, so rotation is not an option I guess.
Do you think moving tires from side to side on the same axle will help?

I hope the R888R provides a similar feel to the NT01. I really enjoy the high slip angle and complete lack of heat cycling of the NT01. Their quality control... not so much

I want to try R1 next.

Redpriest is only whining because he can't defeat my Buttonwillow time with dct, less weight (he even got the bk mounts because he knows he needs to be 300 pounds lighter than me), akra, jrz, bbk, etc.

Of course he's supposed to be faster but he really isn't.

My mods are kw suspension. Sedan. Driver.

Brooooo!!

Lol. He wins by 2/10ths on brand new slicks after gutting his car of the headliner, carpet, airbags, and roof, while all I had done was remove back seats and passenger seat (stock heated seat).

Doesn't comment about ACS where with this same setup and slicks couldn't beat full interior and stock suspension with NT01!!

He is driving an obsolete E9X car, you have like 100whp more than him in the midrange

Nah, this was with my E92 that I beat him, at last year's Bimmerfest, hahaha.

Though, just as an F82 vs E90 comparison, I pulled on him on the main straight onto the bank. Car has ridiculous power.

There's that graph out there that shows both power curves. It's insane.
