My Toyota Tundra in CO doesn't get much action. But this morning, it was snowing, and I was returning home after taking my kid to the school bus stop and a neighbor/friend's SUV had slid into a ditch. It's super slippery today because we got a bunch of freezing rain yesterday and then it snowed on top of it.
No one at the scene had straps or anything, so I ran home and got a heavy duty tie-down strap and pulled her SUV out! Never had to do that before. Yay Tundra! She took video:

Let's file this one under: Oh baby. I hope they're as cool as they look!
As I've mentioned before, there's a small group of us getting carbon doors fabricated for the E90 M3. They had to create molds from our doors. Today, the first set got delivered over to Racewerkz! They haven't been fully unwrapped, but Casey said that they look great so far. Supposedly, they weigh around 10lbs each. The fabricator sent these pics of the doors today.

I suppose they can build more in the future?
Have they considered building one with a beam in it for those of us that don't have full cages? |

As far as door beams, I have no idea what's possible there. That would be a question for them. Once I have my doors in-hand and I've got them on the car successfully, I'll talk about the vendor more.

If they become useable with the OEM door innards, I'd be a buyer. My car is slowly turning into a really crappy version of a Singer E90M soon I'll be reupholstering the engine bay with yellow tartan vinyl, lol

Thanks man! I've enjoyed driving this platform. After all these years, I still love the design and look of this E9x generation M3. She's got great lines! As far as the driver, it's all about seat time and learning. There is no substitute for it. (I also believe analyzing data is important.) I'm humbled that people cheer my car on. I've had so many nice conversations in the paddock with strangers that walk up to the car and want to talk about it. I love that. Anyway, I always enjoy seeing the awesome builds you/Trinity put together. I look inside them and the cars are just empty! I'm like, where is everything??? The labor hours you put into those cars must be insane. Ying's GTR is fricking awesome. And your car ain't no POS! That baby has some good parts on it! Here's what you gotta do: You need a trailer that carries two cars so you can bring the client's car AND your car to the track! Bring an assistant so you can go turn some laps too! I'm sure I'll see ya out there again before too long. Cheers!

When you say "useable with the OEM door innards".......do you mean being able to install door cards? Or windows? Not sure what you're asking. Ok, I'll tease everyone. First, the car in the picture is not my car. I know it looks like mine. But don't get confused. I would never have MCS stickers on my car!!!! mwuahahahahahaha (got ya Casey!) (Allow me to explain----pretty much EVERY SINGLE TIME I talk to Casey at Racewerkz----EVERY......SINGLE......TIME----he finds a way to take a dig at my JRZs......so I take EVERY opportunity I can to get him back! hahahahaha) So, this car belongs to lemanszcpm3 . We have similar builds---E90, blue, gutted, cages built by Racewerkz, similar aero, AP Racing Radi-Cals, etc. He took the lead on getting the doors fabricated and donated his doors for the molding, so he got the first set. Here is an in-process pic of the doors going on his car. ummm would it be fair for me to say that I'm just a bit excited?

I'm talking window regulators and and seals and windows and evertything - a true swap for stock that could be used on the street - I think the E90M will eventually be a target for insane people to do the singer-style kind of thing to, I think it already is for this particular insane person, and obviously they're very popular track cars too - I'm sure with enough fab work on those it could be done
That fit looks every bit as good as stock from a seams and curvature perspective - It's amazing how much carbon fabrication has proliferated and improved in the last 10 years and we all win

I also asked him if a crash beam could be put in for street use. The first thing he said was that this was not the intended use. But he did say that, in theory, a crash beam might be able to be J-B welded in. But then, he finished again by saying this is not the focus of this kind of production. [hehe DISCLAIMERS! ] Obviously, these kinds of doors are being produced with motorsport usage in mind. But that's not to say a clever person couldn't work with them for modified street use.
