I would check to see if your car insurance policy has a free windshield replacent clause. If not, here in the USA I have used safelite.

Try mr Johns auto body in Vaughn. Great service and mostly high end cars.

Quit spreading that bs. Non-oem Pilkington cost me under $400 installed here. Same made in North America glass, just no BMW logo.

Good to know I have a small chip on mine and got a quote for 1100 dollars Canadian. Do u know who carries this windshield. Don't really care if it has a BMW logo on it if it's the same quality. Not sure if it's more when u have rain sensors.

Auto Glass Magic
1109 Derry Rd E, Mississauga, ON L5T 1P3
https://goo.gl/maps/pvL6ogghuqx

Used them before, OE glass without the logo and rain sensor compatible. Should be Securit or Pilkington for our cars. Quoted $280 for my E90 this winter. Should be about the same for the M3

Ya ask for Non-OEM sekruit Saint Gobain glass. It'll cost less than your comprehensive deductible. One thing to look out for after the replacement is to make sure your rain sensor is working. It's finicky and it didn't work properly at first, but the shop played around with it and it's all fixed.

Just thought I would revive this thread because this is always a problem for anyone who drives.

I recently had an irrepairable stone chip on my 2015 X5M. I spoke with my insurance company and they will only cover the cost of an aftermarket windshield.

I spoke with 4 different shops, including one dealer and asked the others what kind of aftermarket windshields they use. One gave me a name of a brand I had never heard of but he assured me that it was a good windshield that would have good visual clarity (no warpage) and would work with all the systems that are housed around the windshield. He seemed to know what he was talking about but, I didn't like that I didn't recognize the brand nor could I find anything online about it.
The second shop I spoke with said they use some Chinese windshields that they got from their suppliers. When pressed for a brand name, he was unable to provide any. Hard pass.
The dealership, of course, only uses OEM windshields. They sent me a comprehensive quote and the cost was quite exhorbitant.
The final installer I spoke with finally provided some piece of mind. When asked what brand of glass he used he said he could probably find me a Pilkington or Sekurit windshield. If not, he might be able to use an OEM windshield and get the insurance to pay for it. Finally, someone who spoke my language. I booked with him immediately. As it turned out, his supplier was able to get him OEM BMW glass for marginally more than what the aftermarket options went for. His margin was slightly reduced but, he wanted me to be happy. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anybody in the market for a new windshield north of the GTA.
The installer that won my business was UNIGLASS/Ziebart in Newmarket. Ask for Jody, the owner.

good post.

Uniglass / Uniban was just bought by Driven Brands which also owns Maaco and CARSTAR so you should be able to get the same pricing / products through any of those outlets though the transition is new and not everyone is integrated.

also, above someone commented that they got a better price in Alberta. This is often the case. Alberta tends not to have glass coverage (insurance) though you can buy it, and the AB market is much more competitive on the retail side because everyone in the province loses a windshield every couple months because of what they use on the roads vs. salt.

there are regional glass retailers in AB that don't exist in Ontario who are direct to manufacturer overseas which is how they give glass pricing to cheap out there.
