Did Rod bearings about 2k miles ago and I’ve had to top it off twice, both within about 500 miles of the oil change. In the 3k miles I had the car before this I never had to top it off once.
First time was after Rod bearing job and it went down to about half meter on the digital dipstick, then again about 500 miles after my 1k mile oil change. Both times the drop happened during spirited drives. Is it common to start burning oil after RBs with the increased clearances? Or is this potentially natural oil dropage after oil changes. |

Don’t check the oil while moving and it can take up to several driving cycles for the oil measurements to read more accurately. These oil sensors suck.

My oil reading was always spot on till I had the RBs replaced. Sensor went crazy going up/down for a while. Eventually back to stable.
OP, assuming the guys have filled up properly I wouldn't worry. Don't overfill..  |

I was told by the shop that did mine a few years ago that it was common for the sensor to be a bit wonky for a while after the replacement. It was, and then settled (I can’t remember how long it took, maybe several weeks):
