I recently did an oil change and found out the oil pan was stripped. Looked at previous owners service records and it stated that it had a small leak in the drain plugs. I manage to retap the oil pan successfully with Rogue Engineerings retap tool kit and went with bigger plugs. I went slow and tried not to make a mess, also flush through about 5 qts of new oil to flush out any shavings from tapping. After letting it drain for couple of hours, topped it off and took it for a drive for about 35 miles. Did another oil change and found some metal pieces in the filter. My question is, what do you guys think about the metal shavings in the engine? Will it cause damage to the engine? What do you suggest? Thank you all

The strainer in the oil pick up will catch large shavings. Anything that makes it pass the strainer will end up in the oil filter. In your case the filter did it's job. I doubt you'll have large shavings from drilling. Unfortunately there's no way of checking the strainer in the pick up tube without dropping the oil pan.

MaximusB thank you for the reply, I hope that is that case, just paranoid about the shavings. Did Rod Bearings 15k ago and don’t want to drop the pan anytime soon.
