I have the JP Marketing bolt in unit that I ordered unpainted and had my shop match the car. I have it with high mount at the back so that I can still get tires in via the pass through.

Hey dogbone - can you (or anyone else) tell me if there something that needs to be done on the Aim solo 2 DL to have it record data? Its tracks real time but after the session the memory shows empty. Do you know if there possibly is something before or after a session that needs to be done for it to save the data? Can't find anywhere on the device or in the manual that addresses it.

Setting up the device requires some amount of work. It’s impossible to go through every setting here. AIM tech support is VERY friendly. If you can’t get the device to work, I would call them. |

i follow this dude on youtube and i really enjoy how he showcases unique or handy tools and their use. i've picked up a few tools that i discovered through his videos. this one is going to replace the tired old crescent wrench i've been lugging around in my tool box. kinda expensive, but it appears to be well engineered.

I can get three wheels in and the fourth part way lying flat. Still plenty of trunk room for the rest of the gear. For a bolt in unit, I really like how they made big thick base plates plus it picks up another mount point at the rear seat bracket. & no drilling

went out to open test day on Friday with Nasa weekend coming up and had a blast. When I got there it was a surprise that it was 13 CCW, a configuration that I've never tried before. Thought it was 13CW and wanted to try and get a pb but with a never before ran track, it was a guaranteed pb! I managed to do a 1:55 in the morning but then ran into the these days common sunday cruise speeds at open test days (beginners now want to skip organizations and go on their own). There were ppl out there that were driving at newbie lead follow speeds (seriously?!). Once I got comfortable and started doing back to back 55's, I was running into traffic. Shame because I was getting faster and faster mid way through laps on the predictive screen. I of course flew past sweeper and took star mazda and also rammed the cones entering buttonhook while trying to brake later. One thing that helped was using additional cushions on my seat (booster seat lol) to sit a little closer and higher because without them I couldn't see the apex of buttonhook - all I saw was A pillar, driver side vent, and my aim solo - with the booster seat set up I was able to see everything.
I spent the two days prior hiding my gopro session charge wire and external mic wire but didn't have it plugged in all the way so no sound - so I did a voice over in my video. Sounds realistic for sure

I raced 13ccw once. Eventful weekend.
First, a safety topic when running BW CCW. If you drop a wheel on sunrise, never, ever, ever try to save it. I've seen multiple cars go into the pit wall trying to save the world there. One driver in a factory five POS, broke his sister's neck doing that (passenger). Very bad situation. Don't be a hero. Just steer straight ahead, bleed speed, and very, very slowly inch towards the track. That corner is one of the only ones I'll put my kung fu grip on a student's steering wheel. Nasty. Another tip, when making a pass into the bus stop, make sure you've tested that pass out during the practice sessions. Otherwise, you'll find out you have no traction there and you'll go full antilock while realizing you're gonna smack the side of your competitor when he turns in. Using the inside berm as a launching ramp will get you all 4 wheels airborne. Just. Don't. Ask. (stuck the landing and the pass ).

Terrible news today from Laguna during an HPDE - an event organizer I go to often; a car dumped oil and several cars hit the wall. Corner worker passed away when he came out after the first car hit

Such an unnecessary loss. I hope those who lost a family member and friend find peace.
Most of us live in a “can’t/won’t happen to me” fantasy but we have to get over that and start improving the safety culture for our hobby. These types of deaths weren’t the result of one mistake but rather series of mistakes. I doubt there is much to learn from this accident in particular that we don’t already know, but we still choose not to do anything about it. One of the easiest improvements we can make is introducing slow zones to every track. A yellow flag alone leaves a lot of ambiguity as to what the safest response would be. We see examples every year. Pick a mandatory, reasonably slow speed limit for a section of a track under a yellow flag that would give a driver enough time to respond to extraordinary circumstances. Encountering a fluid spill on track at 20 MPH is far more manageable than at 70 MPH. I have no doubts that this change is our best start to improving safety. Have any groups or tracks tried these Le Mans style slow zones? |

The way people are talking, it sounds like the worker hopped the wall and went onto a hot track.

I compared my data with the friend I went with and his acceleration was so much greater than mine that i couldn't believe it. He put down 381 (epic custom dyno tune) and I put down 355 (no tune) on the same dyno but couldn't believe 30 hp would pull that much. I was pretty much ahead of him at sunrise and he got on the gas a little earlier than me but that was a -0.8s difference. I couldn't believe so I snooped around the available data. I forgot to mention that I had two SES thrown for coolant sensor malfunction but I erased the codes. When I looked out our coolant temps, his was in the 200s rising and fluctuating throughout the session where my car was reading 405 the whole time. I guess this is what the car reads or sends as a signal when that sensor is out and I'm guessing and based on @redpriest 's previous experience / posts had some horsepower being pulled. I drove the car to give it a wash and go throw some things in storage and noticed my idle was higher. My car was idling at 500/550 and around 750 with ac on and now it's idling around 850/900 with no change when I hit the ac. I did remember when it first threw the code that the car got louder sitting still - assuming idle creeped up. Back to looking at the data, I couldn't believe the aim data. My throttle graphs showed me more committed to the throttle (stretches of table top vs sporadic curves) but still being slower?! Gotta replace coolant sensor (again) and also install the repair kit harness that bmw snuck in sometime without notifying us. Need epic tune as well now haha At least I came away knowing how Fernando Alonso must feel after every race
