There are yellow flags (hard to see all the corner workers from certain angles) out for the parked cars in the videos above, but it seems few of the drivers, if any, bothered to slow down. That's when the organizers should have used a red flag.

A few extra minutes of track time isn't worth the risk.

Last year they had radicals and all these other time trials going on at the same time as a regular track day and it's bullshit. Too much going on at the same time. They need to back off the throttle with that or host multiple days and divide it up.

I'll be honest. I didn't see any yellow flag lol. Flag station are too far and high

Because if they stopped the session every time someone went off, no one would get any track time, hahaha.

They do hot tows, with double waved yellows, etc. If someone hits a wall or is in a particularly bad spot they will black flag or red flag the session. It's up to the corner worker.

Yes and there were plenty of red flags and double yellows.

There were yellow flags for the stopped cars but on the next couple of laps they're just there lap after lap. No need to slow at that point. On the first yellow I'll take note of where they are. I almost flew off corkscrew because yellow flag was really aggressive and I was looking all over the place to make sure they weren't stopped at the bottom of it.

Something happened with my CAE shifter during a session on Friday, and people barely slowed down when they passed by me while I waited for a tow. I was right next to a flagger half way up the hill after turn 6, clearly saw a yellow flag waving the entire time and maybe 3 people slowed their pace.

Thankfully the guys from trinity were there to fix my problem and I was back out there the next session

Starting? I avoid them like the plague unless total desperation for speed sets in. Super high car count and 2 hours between sessions??? No thanks.

That's why I love my local track. It's no Laguna Seca, but basically open lapping almost every weekend for $120 and enough track time for the wheels to fall off. Small lunch break at noon, otherwise drive all day if you want

Multiple car to car?? Wow. I have yet to witness one! That's really scary.

Part of the problem was there was a USTCC race being held this weekend during the speed ventures event, and they were using our HPDE sessions as practice ... while being really aggressive using blocking tactics, etc. Not all of them seem to have had the requisite experience either in terms of awareness.

I've had the same experience at NASA weekends when racers were using the advanced HPDE sessions as practice sessions as well.

Exactly why I like NYST. Does not have the pedigree of Lime Rock Park or Watkins Glenn, but low cost, fun attitude and plenty of track time.

Wow, impressively handled. After the earlier videos of cars parked right of the track and this one, I think Le Mans style "slow zones" should be implemented everywhere for these types of incidents.

Raceway Park of the Midlands? Looks like a fun track and the lack of concrete barriers at the end of heavy braking areas is awesome. How busy do they get on Saturdays?

Would be nice to have a spot to sit definitely.

Yup, RPM just south of Omaha. Like you said, very safe and fun.

In order to run the full course, people need to be certified and do the one day school, which weeds out a portion of people. And because they run open lapping almost every weekend, unless orgs are running that weekend, I have never experienced it to be too busy and not able to have fun. Traffic is generally light which makes for good fun, safe and consistent lapping.

Ever been out there?

Not yet. Brainerd is my home track at a little over two hours 2 hours away. RPM is the same distance away as Road America which I was planning on going to next, but I've been hearing less than stellar things about events at Road America. I'll have to make a weekend trip to Iowa soon.

I'm prepping for my first potential track day and getting my brakes in order. I plan on swapping to dedicated track pads then switching back. I found PFC 06 front pads for a great price but can find the matching rears, do I need to match the front and rear pads exactly? Or can I run a slightly more aggressive rear pad vs the stock pads that or currently on there?

Don't run a pad in the rear that is more aggressive than the front. This would result in weight transfer, potential rear lockup, and poor car control. Same pads f/r are generally acceptable.

If it's your first day, you're probably ok to just swap the fronts and leave the rears alone. You'll be focusing on a lot of things, so having matching rear pads isn't a big deal. Swap to better brake fluid if you haven't already. Happy wheeling!
